For a cosy evening experience, head to the Living Room Cinema. "Housed in a historic building, this independent cinema screens a mix of mainstream and indie films, providing a unique cinematic experience," concluded Tracey. Single mom, influencer defends gender selection of new baby: ‘For me'

An Aussie mother who has been the center of controversy over her decision to choose her baby's gender has defended her actions on radio. Caitlin Bailey, from Melbourne, is a single mom with two sons and a daughter. Advertisement However, she always wanted two children of each biological sex so she spent $45,000 to fly to America for IVF treatment that allowed her to fulfil this dream. Gender selection is banned in Australia due to the ethics involved, meaning Bailey had to use the services of Californian doctor Daniel Potter via Gender Selection Australia. But, her actions divided public opinion — and now the 31-year-old influencer is defending her decision to do so. She told The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick that she knew she'd face a lot of judgement for going through with it but at the end of the day it was 'my body, my family.' Advertisement 'People don't know me. The media will take what they want to take. I'd be silly to think they're not going to do that. I can assure you that I'm a good person and I love my kids. I would do anything for my children, at the end of the day they are the most important thing in the world to me. I'm not doing this to make other people upset or cause controversy,' she said. Caitlin Bailey, a single mom with two sons from Melbourne, Australia, has drawn controversy for choosing her baby's gender while on the radio show The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick. instagram/ 'I purely made this choice for me. There are so many different arguments and opinions. It does hurt my feelings when I see negative comments. I don't want that, and I don't mean to hurt these people.' Bailey said she documented her journey on her social media account, where she boasts 60,000 followers, because there was no one on her feed like her. Advertisement 'I'm not telling people, 'You should all do sex-selection, and you should do this too.' I'm just saying it's an option,' she said. 'We've got the technology and medical advancement to make this an option.' Radio star Fifi Box defended Bailey's decision, saying when she was going through IVF with her second pregnancy she thought it would be much easier to have another daughter. The Aussie media personality said she thought it was a 'shame' that Bailey felt the need to defend herself. Advertisement Bailey wanted two children, each of the same biological sex, and spent $45,000 to go to America to receive IVF treatment. instagram/ One of the big points brought up in the last few days is how much money Bailey spent, which she said came from her savings. The influencer argued that she could have spent that much money on IVF anyway, and that she was saving money because if she tried to conceive naturally she would have kept going until she had another daughter. 'I think it's more responsible to do it this way than try to have another three or four kids, and if I kept having boys I would still feel like I wouldn't have felt that content feeling,' she said. Sex selection is banned in Australia, however it was temporarily available in New South Wales between 1999 and 2004. Now, the only caveat is certain medical exemptions based on gender — for instance if a couple carries genes for conditions such as muscular dystrophy, which predominantly impacts males.

Malcolm Fairley was sentenced to six life terms in 1985 after carrying out a series of sex attacks across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, sparking one of the largest manhunts in British criminal history. The 71-year-old was found dead at HMP Hull on 28 May 2024. An inquest at Hull Coroner's Court earlier heard the provisional cause of his death was a myocardial infarction, or heart attack. However, assistant coroner Sarah Middleton could not conclude the inquest because of a prison investigation and has adjourned it for a later date, which is yet to be fixed. Ms Middleton told the court she wanted to hear evidence of what happened during the night shift at the prison at the time of Fairley's death. The court heard Fairley had been "dead for quite sometime" before he was found and the assistant coroner was waiting for the outcome of an investigation. Bedfordshire Police The serial sex attacker prompted one of the largest manhunts in British criminal history Fairley was nicknamed The Fox because he would build dens in the houses he broke into while waiting for the occupants to return. He prepared and ate meals in their homes, watched television and collected trophies before committing violent attacks, including rape and indecent assaults, while masked and brandishing a shotgun. At the height of his offending, in the summer of 1984, there were three attacks in one week. Two hundred officers were involved in the hunt for him. Fairley also committed break-ins and sexual crimes in South Yorkshire and his native north east. He was arrested in September 1984 at his home in Kentish Town, north London, after forensic evidence linked his car to an attack. At the time of his arrest, Fairley had committed 81 offences. It emerged last month he had been eligible for parole board hearings.

Singer Morrissey forced to cancel shows after 'severe attack'

Singer Morrissey has axed two shows after he was hospitalised due to a "severe sinusitis attack". The veteran singer is currently touring North America, but he was forced to call off a stop at the Civic Theatre in San Diego, California on May 1 and a second concert in Rancho Mirage, California on May 3 after falling ill and being admitted to hospital. A statement posted on his website reads: "Following the show at The Fox in Bakersfield, Morrissey contracted a severe sinusitis attack and was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego." The message confirmed the tour will continue at the Tucson Centennial Hall in Arizona on Monday (05.05.25) and the axed gigs have been rescheduled. It added: "Missed shows at Rancho Mirage and San Diego are not cancelled and now have new dates. Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours." Morrissey's US tour is to continue throughout May before heading across the Atlantic at the end of the month for a show in Dublin, Ireland on May 31. He will then perform two nights at the O2 Academy in Glasgow on June 4 and 5, before wrapping the run with a gig in his native Manchester at the Co-Op Live on June 7 and heading to Europe for concerts in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Austria among others before concluding in Italy in August. Meanwhile, Morrissey previously revealed that he was locked in a battle with Capitol Records over the release of his album Bonfire of Teenagers. He explained the label would return the album to him "for a certain price" as they hadn't released it. The singer told Good Day New York: "This album was recorded in January 2021 and Capitol signed it and didn't release it, but they're now prepared to give it back to me for a certain price. "It's been quite traumatic and quite sad because when you record something, you want it to be available immediately and it was very much of the time. For me, it was a very personal thing and the fact that it hasn't been released has been torture." The album - which was scheduled for release in February 2023 - reportedly featured production from Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne and Andrew Watt; along with collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Flea, and Iggy Pop. The controversial musician later revealed Miley would no longer appear on the track I Am Veronica but insisted that her reasons for pulling out were unrelated to him. In April 2024, Morrissey claimed he regained the rights to Bonfire of Teenagers and 2014 LP World Peace Is None of Your Business.
