"Saiyaara" smashes records as the first Hindi song to top Global Billboard Charts
Los Angeles- Bollywood's newest blockbuster— 'Saiyaara' makes history with its title track as the first Hindi song to debut at the Top 10 songs on The Global Excluding United States Billboard charts.
The title track which goes by the same name of the movie was composed by Tanishk Bagchi and Arslan Nizami and was sung by Faheem Abdullah. As they react to the shocking global success of this song throughout these past few weeks, he tells fans— 'There is no collaboration with foreign artists; everyone associated with us home-grown (from India itself), so that's a big achievement for me. I did have an intuition that this could go viral, but I never expected it to top global charts.'
But whether the song's creators or its listeners fully anticipated the sudden popularity of the song or not, the story of its virality still plays on.
After debuting as the first Hindi song to hit the number one spot in Spotify's Global 50 chart, 'Saiyaara' crawled its way to the Global Top 200 charts. Jumping from the 174th position to 4th place in the overall rankings by the beginning of August after a relatively short period of time from the film's initial release, it managed to beat hit songs such as Justin Beiber's Daisies which dominated the global charts after his album's release this month and long-time chart toppers such as APT by Rose and Bruno Mars which need no further introduction at this point.
Barely missing the top-spot to songs like 'Ordinary' by Alex Warren, 'Jump' by Blackpink and 'Golden' from the animated movie— K-pop Demon Hunters, this rock-ballad continues to grow viral as more than 4.9 million users around the world continue to stream it to this day. Congratulations to the singers, lyricists and composers are well overdue. Let's hope that this song continues to reach its intended listeners like how this song reaches Aneet Padda in the film.
