Dustin Poirier's charity gives away more than 1,200 backpacks to school students
Dustin Poirier is keeping busy after his UFC retirement. Longtime veteran lightweight Poirier retired from MMA competition in July following a unanimous decision loss to Max Holloway in their trilogy bout at UFC 319 in New Orleans. Poirier (30-10 MMA, 22-9 UFC) got a dream final fight scenario in his home state of Louisiana, and he received a heavy dosage of support throughout fight week and in the aftermath. Much of that support has been a product of Poirier having such close ties to his community, especially in Lafayette. "The Diamond" has been acknowledged with awards for his charitable deeds during his career, and things haven't changed after hanging up the gloves. On Tuesday, Poirier and his The Good Fight Foundation hosted its annual Back to School Supply Drive, with more than 1,200 backpacks containing school supplies and more were distributed to those in need. Check out a video recap of the event below (via Instagram): In the wake of his loss to Holloway at UFC 318, Poirier told MMA Junkie that continuing his work with The Good Fight Foundation would be a priority. He will have to find alternative means to shine a light on its efforts outside of what was produced by his fights, but the turn around for the Back to School Supply Drive showed him growth is still happening. "It's got bigger and bigger every year," Poirier said. "It wouldn't get done without the whole community."

Video: Watch 'Paid In Full,' UFC's tear-jerking tribute to Dustin Poirier's career
The UFC sent Dustin Poirier into retirement with an emotional night in New Orleans. As a part of the tribute to "The Diamond," the promotion put together an incredible video titled "Paid In Full: The Dustin Poirier Story," which first played during the UFC 318 broadcast before his final fight against Max Holloway. With "Last of My Kind" by Shaboozey playing as the background track, Poirier sat in front of a large screen, watching moments throughout his career. Starting with clips from the 2011 documentary "Fightville," Poirier watched and reacted to tear-jerking interviews with his family and former coaches, Harry Duhon and Tim Credeur. The video not only touched on Poirier's career inside the cage, but outside, where he has made a big impact in his community with The Good Fight Foundation. Poirier added his own commentary as the clips of wins over Michael Chandler, Conor McGregor, and more. Check out the video above.
