Award-winning Indian restaurant opens new eatery in Scots seaside town

Located on Prestonpans' high street, Bombay Bar & Grill Restaurant had its first service yesterday (TUE). Located in the former historic pub known locally as 'The Goth', the new eatery's owners say they are bringing 'a new story' to the old pub's 'historic walls'. The team behind Bombay Bar & Grill have described their food as a 'culinary storm', offering a range of curries, seafood dishes, tandoori and grill dishes, sides and more. Bombay Bar & Grill has claimed that it will offer 'big flavours', 'bold cocktails' and 'unforgettable vibes'. Speaking about their first day, the team thanked everyone who visited. They said: 'Huge thanks to everyone who came along to the opening day of Bombay Bar & Grill, Prestonpans — you showed up hungry and made it a massive success (and yes, we're still recovering). 'We're just getting started…see you soon for round two.' Family-run Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant and takeaway Bombay Lounge has been based in Dalkeith since 2010. In 2024, it took home the Curry Restaurant of the year award at the Scottish Curry Awards. Last April, the Midlothian restaurant was recognised in the UK Parliament with a motion which celebrated its achievements. Takeaway fans spend £51k over lifetime treating themselves The motion acknowledged this award as 'a wonderful accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and hard work put into their restaurant'. 227–229 High Street was previously home to The Prestoungrange Gothenburg, otherwise known as The Goth. The Goth was established in 1908 as a pub for local miners and brick workers, in a move to hopefully encourage less heavy drinking.
