‘Behind the Broadcast' with the NASCAR on FOX crew at 2025 Daytona 500
The 2025 NASCAR season kicked off with a thrilling Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 16. And to celebrate that day, NASCAR on FOX released a documentary on Tuesday that featured the 67th running of the race: "Daytona 500: Behind the Broadcast with Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer & Mike Joy Like You've Never Seen." The documentary highlights the dedicated work that takes place leading up to the race, including qualifying and duels. Fans also get an exclusive look at the broadcasters in their trailer, as well as behind-the-scenes moments before the Daytona 500 on race day. Of course, when the race began, it was Mike Joy on the call, with Kevin Harvick — the host of "Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour" — and Clint Bowyer by Joy's side. After 11 laps, the race went under caution due to weather, so nobody was going 190 mph for roughly four hours. During this extended delay, we see Joy and Bowyer's candid conversation. Bowyer, by the way, was lying on the floor. The documentary also features cameos from Mamba Smith and Bob Pockrass. As for how the race fared, William Byron, who started fifth, captured the checkered flag under the lights, marking his second consecutive win in "The Great American Race." What does the NASCAR on FOX team do after Byron's big win? You'll have to watch to find out. Here's the full documentary: Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Naples Republican Byron Donalds announces run for governor
Naples Congressman Byron Donalds ended a long tease Tuesday night: He's running for Florida governor. Days after President Donald Trump urged him "RUN, BYRON, RUN!" Donalds obliged, making his announcement on Fox News' Sean Hannity. "Now is the time to ... take the mantle and lead our state into the future," Donalds said. After eight years in office, Gov. Ron DeSantis will hit his term limit, so he can't run in 2026. Instead of boosting Donalds, who was once a tight ally, DeSantis has suggested his wife, Casey, for the post. Donalds, 46, called DeSantis' time in office "tremendous." Now, he said, "The mission is to keep the best state on the country the best state in the country." Donalds, a self-described "Black MAGA patriot," has long been "President Trump's strongest supporter in Congress." For his first-ever vote as a U.S. congressman, he joined 146 other Republicans who voted on Jan. 6, 2021, to void the U.S. election results based on objections to rule changes in two states that Donalds said violated the Constitution. Who is Byron Donalds? President Trump encourages Byron Donalds to run for Florida governor. 11 things to know Donalds was on the short list of vice-presidential possibilities, is a frequent Trump surrogate on national media and often joins the president at public events, including the Daytona 500, after which he tweeted, "It was an honor to join President Trump aboard Air Force One & at The Great American Race." Donalds said he was "excited to have the full endorsement of President Trump. He has a lot of faith in me." He promised to make Florida "the most business-friendly state in our country" and to build on DeSantis' environmental work, "making sure that we finish the job on restoring our Everglades waterways (and) having clean water for all of our constituencies." The Florida Democratic Party responded nearly immediately to the announcement. 'Byron Donalds is a dangerous political opportunist who should be nowhere near the governor's mansion,' said Democrat Chair Nikki Fried. 'One of the least popular people in Tallahassee politics, Byron is best known for skipping votes, defending insurrectionists, and promoting a revisionist version of Black history that defends Jim Crow. He has little political experience and no executive experience, and is completely unqualified to run the state of Florida. 'Byron is only interested in power, and he won't fix our property insurance crisis or bring down the cost of living for Floridians. He only has a shot at the nomination because Trump endorsed him, and Trump is only endorsing him because he wants a puppet in the governor's mansion — pissing off Ron DeSantis is an added bonus.' DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. stretched out his hand to Justin Allgaier on pit road after Allgaier finished ninth in Sunday's Daytona 500 in the first race for Earnhardt as a Cup car owner. 'Good job,' Earnhardt said as he slapped hands with Allgaier. 'Just like we planned.' Earnhardt grinned and hugged Allgaier. He was there when the garage opened at 6 a.m. ET Wednesday to watch his team unload the car from the hauler. Earnhardt walked next to the car as the team pushed it to its garage stall. He often was seen in that stall and around his car during the week. But things didn't come easy for the team. Allgaier fell .08 seconds short of securing a spot in the Daytona 500 in Wednesday night's qualifying. Earnhardt admitted he was "heartbroken" by that result. 'We were prepared and did everything we could to be right and when our opportunity come in the race to get what we could get, we got it. The day was nice. It was really low pressure. All the hard work and the emotion was the buildup. We got to the 1-yard line and punched it in to finish the day. 'We'll see what comes next. That's the next thing.' So, it's going to take some good people that want to invest in something that I believe has a lot of value and a lot of potential.'
