Matt Hardy Teases New Version Of The Hardys, Comments On Potential Heel Turn
Matt Hardy isn't sure how much longer he'll wrestle, but he's feeling great heading into his next big challenge. Hardy spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard to promote TNA Slammiversary. Matt is feeling good heading into a four-way ladder match that will see The Hardys, Rascalz and Fir$t Cla$$ challenge the Nemeth Brothers for their titles. Hardy says he's still in great shape after being in the wrestling business for more than 30 years. Hardy isn't sure how much longer he'll wrestle at this level, but he plans on making his next match special. 'I don't know. We both are feeling really good, we are physically taking care of ourselves. We are big ice bath, cold plunge guys and that's been a game changer for us. And we are feeling great. I'm actually diving real hard going into Slammiversary,' Matt Hardy explained. 'This four-way ladder match, it's the first time myself and Jeff are getting our actual rematch versus the Nemeths to try and procure the TNA World Tag Team titles.' Matt knows he and Jeff will have three teams to face, but this is still a match stipulation that the Hardys made their name off of. Matt Hardy says he and his brother are ready to evolve 'When you think about a Ladder Match, we are the guys that revolutionized it. We created the whole TLC staple along with Edge and Christian, and the Dudleys. So, this match is going to be indelible. It's going to be special. And I think starting in this match, you are going to see a new version of Matt and Jeff Hardy going forward from here on,' Matt said. 'We are pretty excited about this. We have been ready to evolve for a while. And we really stayed patient to wait for this moment to do something special.' Pritchard asked if fans should read into his remarks about a 'new version' of the Hardys and being ready to evolve. Matt offered a cryptic answer in response. 'I don't know. Read it as you will,' Matt replied. 'I laid out some breadcrumbs and follow it where it leads you.' Can The Hardys still pull off a heel run now? Evolving could mean many things. As John Cena has shown this year, even the most dedicated babyfaces can (finally) turn heel. The Hardys are still arguably one of the most popular duos in pro wrestling and have legions of fans around the world. Does Matt think the Hardys, at this point in their careers, could pull off a heel turn despite their popularity? 'It would be challenging. But it's something, this is weird. I don't want to compare this to John Cena, I think you can kind of compare it to that in some way. It is very hard to turn John Cena heel, because he is so beloved, right? And I think we have that, especially with Jeff, because he is so beloved. But I think both of us together, I think we could, I honestly think if we did something and we evolved into something that could be viewed as heelish. [However] I think when it was all set and done, it would just make us bigger babyfaces.' Matt Hardy believes a heel turn could give The Hardys a 'fresh coat of paint' and more depth. However, he doubts they would be able to sustain a negative reaction a heel needs for too long. 'We could do it for a little while and play that role. We could try and make some people. But then I think, at the end of the day, people are still ultimately going to cheer for us because we are such beloved figures from… a lot comes from people's childhoods now.' Jeff, one of the biggest babyfaces ever, along with Ricky Steamboat and Rey Mysterio, got over because of the connection he keeps with fans. Matt noted that Jeff worked very hard to get his 'Antichrist' heel character over, but it was more of a short-term gimmick. 'Yeah, Jeff… All three of those guys [Ricky Steamboat, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio] very very special emotional connections to the crowd, and that's what ultimately makes someone a star. That's what makes someone sell tickets. That's what makes people want to see them on pay-per-view and live in the arena. It is not necessarily the moves they do, it's the connection they have with them and the emotional investment they have in them. And those guys are three special guys. I was proud of Jeff when he did the Anti-Christ of pro wrestling in the early 2010s. And I thought he busted his a**. I thought he worked really hard to try and be a heel. And try and get booed and come of as arrogant and cocky. But like you said, at the end of the day, it ended up kinda being a short-term thing.' TNA Slammiversary takes place at the UBS Arena on Long Island on Sunday, July 20. WWE NXT results (4th Mar): Shawn Spears wins North American title
WWE NXT on March 4, 2025, aired live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show saw Zaria and Sol Ruca pick up a key victory, Jaida Parker and Jordynne Grace in action, and Trick Williams making a statement ahead of his upcoming challenge. Zaria & Sol Ruca defeat Chelsea Green & Piper Niven Chelsea Green and Piper Niven returned to NXT for the first time in months to take on Zaria and Sol Ruca. The action was fast-paced, with Green and Ruca starting the match. Despite Green and Niven isolating Ruca, she fought back with a crossbody, allowing Zaria to tag in. Zaria hit an F5 on Niven before Ruca landed the Sol Snatcher on Green to secure the victory. Jaida Parker outlasts Kelani Jordan Jaida Parker and Kelani Jordan continued their rivalry in a singles match. Parker dominated early, working over Jordan's midsection with submissions and a Hip Attack. Jordan rallied with a Spanish Fly and attempted a 450 Splash, but Parker avoided it and hit a final Hip Attack to score the win. The Hardys return to NXT, confronted by Hank Walker & Tank Ledger Jeff and Matt Hardy addressed the NXT crowd, reflecting on their return last week and the passion of the NXT locker room. Hank Walker and Tank Ledger interrupted, thanking The Hardys for their influence. Before they could continue, Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura arrived, mocking Ledger and Walker. A brawl erupted between the two teams, spilling into the crowd. Later, The Hardys and NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom & Nathan Frazer shared a tense moment ahead of their upcoming title match. Jordynne Grace defeats Cora Jade by referee stoppage Jordynne Grace made her NXT debut against Cora Jade, controlling much of the match with powerful strikes. Jade attempted to turn the tide with a dropkick and a knee strike, but after crashing into the turnbuckle, she was deemed unable to continue, awarding Grace the victory. Grace was attacked backstage by Roxanne Perez. Trick Williams knocks out Kale Dixon, accepts Eddy Thorpe's challenge Trick Williams made quick work of Kale Dixon, landing a knee strike that ended the match via referee stoppage. Williams then called out Eddy Thorpe, who appeared on the stage and challenged him to an "NXT Underground" match in two weeks. Williams accepted. Ethan Page and Je'Von Evans exchange words ahead of Roadblock Ethan Page and Je'Von Evans sat down for a satellite interview ahead of their match at NXT Roadblock next week. The exchange turned heated, with both men vowing victory. Shawn Spears dethrones Tony D'Angelo for North American Championship Tony D'Angelo defended his North American Championship against Shawn Spears in his first title match since February 11. With The Family at ringside, D'Angelo fought off Spears' early offense, landing heavy strikes and a clothesline. Spears responded with an eye rake and a targeted attack on D'Angelo's midsection. Outside interference led to chaos, as Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo accidentally sent D'Angelo crashing onto a chair at ringside. Spears capitalized, delivering the C4 to secure the pinfall and claim the title. NXT Roadblock set for next week With NXT Roadblock on the horizon, matches set for the event include Je'Von Evans vs. Ethan Page and Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs. The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

Report: Update On The Hardys Potentially Making More WWE Appearances
TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys will compete on the February 25th episode of WWE NXT, and new reports suggest that the match won't be a one-off. As part of TNA's partnership with WWE, Matt and Jeff Hardy will face No Quarter Catch Crew on Tuesday's show. This will mark their first match in WWE since they left the company in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Fans started buzzing even more ahead of the show, as WWE released a new Hardy Boyz shirt on WWE Shop, with some hoping it could be a hint that more appearances will come. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that The Hardys are under contract until 'late this year' with TNA. However, WWE sources think they will make 'some more appearances' in the company. Likewise, WrestleVotes reports that there's internal buzz that The Hardys' NXT appearance is just the beginning. They write that creative sources are optimistic that the duo will have a main roster program sometime this spring or summer. WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE NXT as it airs on Tuesday. Matt Hardy discussed The Hardys returning to WWE on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast. He made it clear that going back to the company meant a lot to Jeff. 'He's very happy to be going back,' Matt Hardy said. 'And I feel like he wants to right the wrongs. He wants to leave on a good note, no more erratic behavior. You know, he wants to go back and show them who he is. And I think one of the reasons, even with this whole exchange going on. I think one of the reasons they probably waited a little while to pull the trigger and do something with Jeff and I was just to kind of see where Jeff was. Just make sure Jeff is good. 'And anybody who's been here with TNA, they can't go without talking about how incredible and professional of a performer Jeff has been. Especially with us when we do these marathon post-show meet and greets, how we're just kind to everybody. We're happy to be there, we're just happy to be doing we're doing, man. 'We're blessed to still be doing this 33 years into the journey. And those words spread. Even when we were doing the signing at Wrestlecon, and we changed the flight to an hour and a half later so we could finish those last 100 and change who had waited four or five hours to see us. I mean, that stuff builds equity. And word spreads, man. Word of mouth gets around. I think that's attributed to and it helped lead and it has attributed to a lot of our success and our popularity among people, as well because they've heard these great experiences about us.'
