ACEnovation invites applications for National Storytelling Championship
The National Storytelling Championship India 2025, organised by ACEnovation, is inviting participants from ages 3 to over 103, across six categories, to share their stories, whether folk tales, personal anecdotes, or original fiction, in any language. The Hindu in School is the event's official media partner. In alignment with the National Education Policy, which recognises the importance of holistic development and creative expression, the championship provides a unique platform to enhance narrative abilities and confidently share their voices. The pan-India event aims to empower storytellers to address social issues, preserve local folklore, and promote cultural diversity. So far, over 1,000 registrations have been received from across the nation. 'The free workshops on storytelling and communication provided invaluable skills that I felt would enhance my narrative abilities,' Achinta Chopra, a participant from New Delhi, said. The registration fee is ₹400 per participant. Included in the registration are gift subscriptions to The Hindu's children's products — two months of The Hindu Young World or three months of Young World Club Digital or six issues of The Hindu in School 's Weekender; a free online workshop on the Art and Science of Storytelling; two additional free online workshops; gift vouchers; and free entry to the 'Hornbill Calls - Leader Talk' series. The last date to register is August 20. The stories can be submitted in any language. The grand finale will be held at the Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai campus, on October 2. Prizes include a trophy, and cash prizes of ₹25,000 for the junior category, and ₹1,00,00 for the senior category, among others. Visit for registration, guidelines, and more information. The Hindu Young World presents two new books for children
Following On a Heritage Trail and Eureka Vol II that were released in November 2024, The Hindu Young World has brought out two more books. Crossword For You Vol II presents a set of crosswords published in the early issues of Young World. With themes ranging from books, sports, history, and science to anagrams and rhyming puzzles, they offer knowledge combined with fun. Science with Young Hanuman is a collection of the column Sky High, which explains science concepts through characters from the Ramayana. What are the different levels of speed? How does an aeroplane fly? What is an aerofoil shape? Children will join young Hanuman as he learns about the various aspects of the science behind flying and spacecraft, learn how to make their own version of spacecraft and aeroplanes, and try their hand at different scientific experiments. 12 govt. schools to get copies of The Hindu In School for academic year
The formal launch of the distribution of free copies of The Hindu In School, an initiative supported by the Manappuram Foundation, took place at their Valappad office on Tuesday. As part of the foundation's corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, the project was officially inaugurated by George De Das, CEO of the foundation. The project aims to encourage students to enhance their English language skills and better prepare themselves to meet the challenges of the future. In addition to The Hindu In School, participating schools will also receive copies of The Hindu YoungWorld and The Hindu In School Weekend tabloid, offering a well-rounded reading experience. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Das stressed on the importance of reading newspapers, highlighting how it enriches students — especially in an era where classroom education and textbooks alone were not sufficient. He noted that activities like these played a vital role in fostering a more holistic learning experience. Suresh Kumar Pillai, general manager at The Hindu Group of Publications, enlightened the participants on how to read a newspaper and took them through the wide range of contents each of these specially curated publication for students covered. Silpa Tresa Sebastian, CSR Head at Manappuram Foundation, also underscored the significance of newspaper reading, emphasising its role in broadening perspectives, enhancing critical thinking, and keeping students well-informed about the world around them. Principals, teachers, and student representatives from the schools benefitting from the project attended the function.

The Hindu Young World wins at INMA Global Media Awards
The Hindu Young World bagged the third place for 'Best Initiative to Bolster Next-Generation Readership' (under National Brands) at the INMA (International News Media Association) Global Media Awards 2025. This category assessed products and services designed to facilitate news to better reach new generations of readers. The Hindu was placed third for 'Fostering Engagement: A Year-Long Multifaceted Approach at The Hindu Young World.' While Bonnier News from Sweden bagged the first place for 'Expressen's New Strategic Approach to Next-Generation Readers', Ringier from Switzerland was placed second for 'Blick Live Quiz'. Pioneer The Hindu Young World, a children's magazine from The Hindu Group, was launched in 1990. Specially curated for five to 12-year-olds and published every Friday, it offers a blend of education and entertainment. It offers articles, stories, games, puzzles, quizzes and activities on a diverse range of topics such as science, history, sports, geography, current affairs, travel, space, entertainment, personalities, music, art, and more.
