Dominique Thorne Talks About Her Marvel Character IRONHEART and How She Will Do Without Her Mentor Tony Stark — GeekTyrant
Dominique Thorne first appeared in the MCU in the 2022 sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , where we were introduced to her character Riri Williams, a genius teen inventor who is following in the footsteps of her hero, Tony Stark, aka Ironman. We will see her return next month as the superhero Ironheart in the upcoming Disney+ series, but without the help of Stark as her mentor, how will she navigate the superhero world? Enter The Hood. Anthony Ramos ( Hamilton ) is set to play The Hood in the show Ironheart , and Thorne talked about his character, describing him as "this mystical, magical sort of entity" in the upcoming issue of SFX magazine, which features M3GAN 2.0 on the cover and hits newsstands on Wednesday, May 21. Thorne explained, "We know that The Hood couldn't be farther apart from Riri in terms of her being a very logical 'show me the facts and run me the numbers' person. 'Coming off the heels of this super vulnerable experience, with her having been imprisoned, that vulnerability presents a very tender opportunity for Riri to make a real and impactful decision about how her genius will impact the world around her. How will it affect the people that she loves? How can it affect her own goals and ambitions?" She went on, "There's a clear understanding that she's not Tony Stark. She does not have a billion dollars at her disposal. She does not have the resources... she doesn't have the mentorship, or the guidance," Thorne says. "And so what does it look like for someone like The Hood to enter her sphere now, where she is vulnerable and reflecting? It does set the stage for a very interesting journey ahead to see the people who pop up as she's working to get those answers and what the scale of their influence can be, if any?" It will be interesting to see what happens with Riri Williams and this mysterious new character, The Hood. Ironheart will hit Disney+ on June 24th. via: GamesRadar+

Marvel Drops ‘Ironheart' Trailer, Riri Williams Hands Out Armored Fades
Ironheart , the highly anticipated miniseries starring Dominique Thorne as genius MIT student Riri Williams, is slated to launch this summer. Marvel dropped the official trailer for Ironheart on Wednesday (May 14), which details Riri Williams' journey into superheroism after studying abroad in a famed African nation. Dominique Thorn stars as Riri Williams, an MIT student from Chicago who is encountered by a mysterious figure known as The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos, who helps fund her mission to build an all-powerful armored suit similar to the suits created by the late Tony Stark, better known to the world as Iron Man. The trailer shows The Hood testing Williams' brilliance inside her makeshift laboratory, and later promising riches to make her dreams of building a super-suit come true. As it would happen, The Hood doesn't seem to have the purest intentions for Williams, setting up a clash with Ironheart in the future. The six-part series follows the action shortly after Ryan Coogler's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever , where we first encounter Williams after being recruited by the Dora Milaje's top general, Okoye. Coogler also serves as an executive producer for the series, which also stars Lyric Ross as Williams' friend Natalie Washington, and Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, among others. Get the full cast and other details for Ironheart here. Check out the trailer below. The show's first three episodes will be released on June 24. — Photo: Marvel/Getty/Disney+ Marvel Drops 'Ironheart' Trailer, Riri Williams Hands Out Armored Fades was originally published on Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE

Matthew McConaughey to Star in Movie "The Rage"
Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey is attached to star in Paul Greengrass' peasant revolt movie "The Rage". Oscar nominee Greengrass is also scripting the project, which FilmNation is selling for the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. The movie (formerly known as The Hood) is set to take place during the Peasants' Revolt, a major uprising that took part across large parts of England in 1381 in response to socio-economic and political tensions and high taxation. McConaughey will play a farmer who becomes the leader of the revolt (which could indicate that he's playing the legendary Wat Tyler, who led the uprising before being killed by forces loyal to King Richard, though this is unconfirmed). CAA Media Finance is repping domestic with WME Independent. Jason Blum is newly producing through Blumhouse Productions, with Greengrass and Joanna Kaye. In a previous incarnation from a few years ago, the project had Benedict Cumberbatch aboard. The "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Interstellar" star McConaughey is currently in post on Greengrass project "The Lost Bus" for Apple. That movie is also produced by Blum. McConaughey's "The Rivals of Amziah King" will launch at this year's SXSW.
