Major retailer launches £30 skincare box with £113 of trending products including Lumene and Byoma
SKINCARE fans have been racing to pick up Boots' new beauty box that has been branded as "incredible value". The £30 set includes £113 worth of products, with skincare favourites from Byoma, Beauty of Joseon and The Inkey List. Beauty boxes are a great way to try out new products or stock up on favourites, and the Boots Fresh Faced Skincare Set has everything needed for a routine refresh. Six out of the nine products inside are full-size, including Lumene's Glow Boost Essence, which is worth £34 (more than the entire beauty box) when purchased separately. Beauty of Joseon is the Korean beauty brand that's been all over social media lately, and shoppers will receive its popular Matte Sun Stick. There are three cleansers inside the new beauty box, including The Inkey List's popular Oat Cleanser and Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser. E.l.f's Holy Hydration Cleansing Balm is also inside (worth £11), and the cleanser has racked up thousands of five-star ratings on the Boots website. 1 The solid balm melts away make-up while hydrating the skin, with a formula made up of hyaluronic acid, ceramides and peptides. Byoma's Brightening Serum Pixi's Vitamin C Serum (worth £26). The products also come with a stylish checked print washbag that's ideal for storing away beauty essentials. The £30 set only has a few reviews currently, all of which are five-star. One shopper wrote: "This set is excellent value for money if you want to try some new brands and level up your skincare routine, and the bag itself is very good quality, plus it would make an excellent gift." Another added: "The bag included is very good quality that will last years and I got lots of products for a great price. I bought this for myself to try some new products but it would also make an excellent gift." Shoppers caused mass sell-outs on the Boots website earlier in the month after the retailer launched its Luxury Haircare Beauty Box. Featuring £219 worth of products for £45, the haircare edit didn't stay in stock for long. Lookfantastic also released a new beauty box recently, and the Trending Beauty Box comes with nine viral favourites worth £110 for £40.

I'm a beauty editor - this affordable skincare brand is the secret to your best skin ever
As a skincare-obsessed journalist, I'm often asked what beauty brands are worth the hype, and it's a difficult question to answer. The truth is I don't play favourites – right now, I've got both the £12 Oat Cleansing Balm from The Inkey List and the £86 Brightening Serum from Tatcha in my rotation. That said, if I could only use one beauty brand for the rest of my life, I'd probably choose Beauty Pie. Recognised by industry insiders for its members-only model, the brand cuts out the middlemen and retailer markups so it can offer really good products in high-quality but minimalist packaging at factory prices. Members pay an annual fee of either £29 or £59 and get access to so-called 'members' prices'. For example, a moisturiser that you'd typically pay £100 for from a high-end brand, only costs £34 for members at Beauty Pie. If you're not a member, you can still buy products but at a more premium price, so it's worth checking out the website. Below, I've listed some of my all-time favourite Beauty Pie products. The best products from Beauty Pie £30 Shop Super Healthy Skin Featherlight UVA/UVB SPF 50 Sunscreen + Primer £25 Shop No skincare routine is complete without sunscreen (ideally with an SPF 50+). This one is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores, offers broad-spectrum protection, and doesn't feel claggy or heavy on the skin. Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser £17 Shop An effective evening cleanse, this gel-to-oil-to-milk formula removes dirt, pollution and makeup without stripping the skin, and leaves it feeling clean and fresh. Double-Sided Organic Cleansing & Exfoliating Cloths £13 Shop Are you still using a traditional washcloth to remove your cleanser? Because these double-sided cloths (cotton and microfibre) are softer and gentler on the skin. Super Retinol + Vitamin C Night Renewal Moisturizer (1% Retinol Complex) £40 Shop Formulated with 1% encapsulated retinol to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation, this is a great night-time moisturiser for those who have sensitive skin or are new to retinol. Awesome Bronze Gradual Self-Tanning Drops £21 Shop I'm not a big self-tan fan, but even my pale skin needs a little boost every now and then. I just mix a couple of these gradual self-tanning drops in with my moisturiser and night, and wake up with a natural glow. Superluminous Under-Eye Genius £24 Shop More of an under-eye brightener than a concealer, although you might find it covers up your dark circles, I like to pat it in with my ring fingertip. Wrap Star Tubing Mascara £17 Shop Le Smash Santal Eau De Parfum £60 Shop Reminiscent of Le Labo's bestselling Santal 33 (but not a dupe), it's a sexy scent with notes of creamy sandalwood, tonka bean, lavender and tea leaves that will earn you compliments. The Perfectly Puffy Silver Beauty Bag £40 Shop

Almost 10 years." —gardeniasunrise"I have hormonal fluctuation breakouts and use this mask once/week to keep my skin clear throughout the month. Love it!" —frangerinePrice: $18+ (available in two sizes) Shiseido's Ultimate Sun Protector Face and Body Lotion SPF 60+ Sunscreen because protecting your skin from the sun doesn't always have to mean slathering it in a white cast and gritty texture. This sunscreen glides on clear and soaks into the skin, leaving behind a radiant glow. Promising review: "I love this sunscreen! Goes on beautifully and blends in without a white cast. Tried cheaper ones, but nothing compares! Amazing to combat Florida sun and my sensitive Tretinoin skin." —vanillakissesPrice: $25+ (available in two sizes) Dieux's Instant Angel Lipid-Rich Barrier Repair Cream has ceramides to plump all skin types — even sensitive skin! It's been a game changer for my skincare routine, especially with helping to fade my post-acne marks. After consistent use, my skin feels smoother and more even, and the dark spots have noticeably lightened. It's gentle enough for regular use, yet effective enough to make a visible difference. Highly recommend it if you're dealing with post-acne pigmentation or just want brighter, clearer skin!" —alimka14Price: $8.70+ (available in two sizes) Olehenriksen's Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment that, like a lip gloss, creates a mirror-like shine you'll want to pair with every lip liner in your arsenal. But! This isn't a lip gloss, it's a lip treatment packed with smoothing peptides and moisturizing kokum butter. Promising review: "Amazing!!!!! I have fuller lips but fine lines, so they can look dull. This almost immediately fills those lines. This is a balm, and that can be a different feeling if you're looking for a gloss with a 'slip' feeling. The gloss effect for me lasts about 2-3 hours, but the benefits, like hydration, last all day. I'm excited to see how continued use of this product works given the peptides." —Sephora CustomerPrice: $22 (available in four high shine shades and four shimmer shades) Laneige's Bouncy + Firm Sleeping Mask just in case slugging with Vaseline may be too much for you, but you still want something thicc to soak into your skin overnight. It keeps my redness toned down and has really transformed my skin." —AliciaaaaaaaaPrice: $12+ (available in three sizes) Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask, because using a mask doesn't always have to mean getting your fingers messy with a goopy formula. This sheet mask comes pre-soaked with ingredients like ceramide NP, glycerin, and panthenol to help nourish the skin barrier and calm the skin. Promising review: "This is honestly the best mask I've tried. My skin was irritated, red, and dry after trying a new exfoliator, but after this mask, my skin was instantly hydrated and glowing. This mask repaired my skin barrier within a couple of hours, and I am SO impressed with how great it improved my skin. One hundred percent a need for a compromised skin barrier." —TeynikaPrice: $10 Saie's Glowy Super Gel to bring the pearl skin trend to the forefront of your beauty routine. This water-based gel is full of hydrating glycerin and squalane to plump the skin, while its reflective properties add a radiant glow to the complexion. Promising review: "This is the best glowy primer and base! Great for my dry skin and keeps me looking healthy and glowy all day long. Highly recommend." —cs1211Price: $16+ (available in two sizes and four shades) Drunk Elephant's Protini Polypeptide Cream, which has a whopping NINE different signal peptides that all do different jobs on your skin, like plumping, brightening, and, of course, moisturizing. Tatcha's Rice Wash that gets wayyyyy down into your pores to help get rid of gunk. While this soft cream-to-foam works to buff the skin clean, hyaluronic acid and red algae work over time to moisturize the skin for a nonstripping feel. Promising review: "Every time my friends or family come over, they use this. And every time they are like?? OK, wow that's amazing. It's just the best. I didn't know a cleanser that's on your face for like max 60 seconds could make such a difference, but it does." —KaityLauzPrice: $18+ (available in two sizes) Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dewy Flush, which is more of a skincare serum than it is makeup! This serum blush contains jojoba-coated pigments that, yes, add a cute flush to the skin — but also help moisturize the skin for a dewy, bouncy effect. Promising review: "LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE!! I've come back to this product time after time for the past two years." —LoughlyPrice: $40+ (available in two sizes) Topicals' Brightening & Clearing Serum, which uses tranexamic acid to gently help smooth the skin, brighten the complexion, and fade dark spots! *And* it comes in a cute metal tube that you'll want to show off in your #Shelfies. The Ordinary's $15 anti-aging serum delivered ‘impressive results in very little time'
The Ordinary needs no introduction. It is renowned for creating affordable yet innovative skincare products that work. One of its latest launches is no exception: a growth factor face serum that addresses multiple visible signs of aging at a fraction of its competitors' prices. But does it deliver? I put it to the test before it launched. Growth factors are fast becoming the next buzz-worthy skincare ingredient. They are proteins that naturally occur in our skin cells — simply put, they act as messengers to various mechanisms in the skin, signaling it to repair and rejuvenate. They do so by stimulating skin cell turnover and the production of collagen and elastin — the fundamentals of keeping skin smooth and firm. With age, growth factors deplete, so the skin is less able to repair itself from environmental damage like UV light and pollution, leading to premature signs of aging. By replenishing these growth factors, old skin cells start acting like younger skin cells again. The science isn't new — growth factors were first discovered by scientists in the 1950s who went on to win a Nobel Prize for their work, and luxury skincare brands started infusing their formulas with the regenerating ingredient in the 1990s. But what is new is having access to this advanced science for the first time at a bargain price. Typically, it's only high-end and hugely expensive skincare brands that carry growth factor skincare, excluding The Inkey List's offering, although it's hard to compare when it's not as highly concentrated. But The Ordinary's new serum is cheap at $15.50 — so I wanted to see how it performed. How I tested I am an experienced beauty editor in my 40s with typical signs of skin aging, including pigmentation, fine lines, and a loss of firmness. I tested the product every day for three weeks (both in my morning and evening skincare routines) under the same moisturizer.
