Benny Blanco learns fiancee Selena Gomez never went to prom; he makes it happen for her
Benny Blanco is setting new standards for romance, and the Internet can't get enough. The hitmaker recently went above and beyond to create a magical moment for his fiancée, Selena Gomez, giving her the prom she never had.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show earlier this month, Blanco said Gomez missed her high school prom experience. Determined to change that, he planned an unforgettable surprise prom night, complete with all the nostalgic trimmings: a stretch limo, formalwear, and even a throwback mall photo shoot.
'My fiancée has never been to prom before… so I asked her if we should take prom photos together at a mall… she said yes!' Blanco wrote. The heartwarming gesture, which also doubled as a birthday celebration for Blanco, has since gone viral.
He gave fans a peek into the night on Instagram with a behind-the-scenes video captioned 'Wow'. The clip shows him getting ready, excitedly waiting for Gomez at the stairs, snapping goofy prom-style pictures, and cruising through the city, all set to the nostalgic tune of Just The Two Of Us.

Gomez brought full prom queen energy in a dramatic purple high-low gown, black tights, and a statement faux fur coat. Blanco looked sharp in a classic black tux and bowtie. Their prom portraits, snapped in front of a retro backdrop, were straight out of a teen movie.
Fans and fellow celebs were quick to swoon. Katy Perry commented, 'I continue to ship.' One fan said, 'If my man is not like Benny Blanco then I DON'T WANT HIM.' Another called Blanco, 'the entire walking green amazon forest.'
Blanco admitted on The Jennifer Hudso show that although he'd been to a few proms back in the day, this one was different. 'Honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner,' he said. He also shared how Gomez was nervous about the surprise: 'She didn't even know, she was like, 'What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?''
The couple announced their engagement in December 2024 after six months of dating, with Gomez proudly showing off her ring in a carousel of photos on Instagram.
