Kansas City Chiefs begin OTAs on Tuesday as part of their offseason workout program

Kansas City Chiefs begin OTAs on Tuesday as part of their offseason workout program The Kansas City Chiefs start Organized Team Activities Group 1 today through Thursday (May 27-29). Players and coaches get to knock off some offseason rust in preparation for the 2025 season. The offseason workouts, better known as OTAs, are voluntary minicamps that fall between voluntary minicamps in late April and mandatory minicamps in June. Most Chiefs players attend and participate in them; it's not out of the ordinary for some players to sit them out. Players recovering from injury or contract disputes have missed out on workouts in past seasons. There are various restrictions within these sessions. However, on-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as "perfect play drills," and drills and play with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted during this time. The Chiefs' subsequent two OTA sessions will occur June 2-4 and June 10-13.

Chiefs waive veteran RB, Super Bowl LVIII champion

Chiefs waive veteran RB, Super Bowl LVIII champion The Kansas City Chiefs waived veteran running back Keaontay Ingram on Thursday, May 15. Ingram initially signed with Kansas City's practice squad in 2023 and earned a ring with the Chiefs as a member of the team's Super Bowl LVIII roster. He briefly joined Kansas City's 53-man roster last season on September 18, but the Chiefs waived and later re-signed him to their practice squad on September 26. As a collegian, Ingram put together an impressive resume between tenures at the University of Texas and the University of Southern California. In four years, Ingram rushed for 2,722 yards and 16 touchdowns on 495 attempts, and tallied 671 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver. Though Ingram wasn't expected to compete for a starting spot for Kansas City next season, the Chiefs have had their depth at the running back position tested in the past, and may be keen to keep him on their radar if injuries affect their rushers in 2025.

Chiefs agree to bring back wide receiver Hollywood Brown after Xavier Worthy's arrest: reports

The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back one of their stars. The Chiefs agreed to a one-year deal with wide receiver Hollywood Brown worth up to $11 million on Saturday, per numerous reports. Brown, 27, played in just two regular-season games after he suffered a shoulder injury on the first snap of the preseason. Brown had nine catches for 91 yards in those regular-season games and then added five catches for 50 yards in the Chiefs' three playoff games. Last season was Brown's first with the Chiefs. Brown spent the prior two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals after being traded by the Baltimore Ravens. Across six seasons, Brown has 322 receptions for 3,735 yards and 28 touchdowns in 74 career games. With Brown back in the fold, Patrick Mahomes has one of his deep threats back. One of Mahomes' other top targets, Xavier Worthy, was arrested on Saturday morning after an alleged domestic dispute. Worthy emerged throughout the season as Mahomes' top target, as he capped off his rookie season with an eight-catch, 157 yards, and two-touchdown performance in the Chiefs' Super Bowl loss. The Chiefs' wide receiving corps lacked a true No. 1 option after wide receiver Rashee Rice tore his ACL early in the season. Rice, too, could potentially face suspension in the 2025 season after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident last offseason. Travis Kelce, who had been Mahomes top target throughout his career, while productive, took a step back last season with career lows in touchdowns and yards across a full season. Despite re-signing Brown, and Kelce returning after mulling retirement, the Chiefs are expected to add more weapons for Mahomes once free agency begins next week.
