Kanpur: The elders committee of The Lawyers Association on Friday took the charge and convened a meeting . The elders committee will conduct the election of The Lawyers Association. June 20 is the last date for depositing membership subscription. Thereafter final electoral list would be provided so that election outline could be fixed. Meanwhile a delegation of advocates met with elders committee and urged to impose ban on feasts and hoarding & banner war during election. He stated that as per the guidelines issued by the Allahabad High Court hoardings, posters, banners, banquets, meetings and parties in guest houses and party lawns are completely prohibited in elections of the Advocates Association. Lawyers demand martyr status for terror victims, submit memorandum

Kanpur: A delegation led by the office bearers of Kanpur Bar Association and The Lawyers Association on Thursday lodged their strong protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir and demanded that the deceased should be declared as martyr and a sum of Rs 50 lakhs be given to each family. Kanpur Bar Association president Indeever Bajpai and The Lawyers Association president Shyam Singh Chauhan also demanded that injured should be treated free of cost. In a joint memorandum, the office bearer stated that strong action be taken against terrorism. They handed over their memorandum to the district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh. tnn
