'These are Muslim values, these are Canadian values': PM Mark Carney trolled on social media for his Eid message

Mark Carney was slammed on social media for his Eid message. Prime Minister Mark Carney was trolled on X for his speech at an Eid al-Adha celebration hosted by the Muslim Association of Canada. "The message of Eid resonates in this room, across this city, and it should resonate with all Canadians. .. the lessons and values of Eid are the same. Our Canada is a diverse country, proud home to different beliefs, different languages and different cultures. Those are differences that make us unique, and make us strong. We can pray differently but all of us must come together around the values of Eid," Caney said. "The values of community, of generosity and yes, of sacrifice. These are Muslim values, these are Canadian values," the PM said. "Is Canada done for?" a viral post on X commented sharing the video -- triggering a major debate over 'Islamized Canada'. "On Easter he couldn't even speak the name of Jesus Christ and made up some ridiculous notion that the holiday is about celebrating new beginnings (because it's Spring?) and then painted eggs," another post read. Indian-origin journalist Rupa Subramanya condemned the speech and said Islamic values are not Canadian values. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mai puține griji la pensionare Pensia Facultativă NN Vezi oferta Undo "And there ain't nothing bigoted in saying that," she posted on X. Srinagar's Jamia Masjid locked on Eid, Mirwaiz detained

SRINAGAR: Srinagar's historic Jamia Masjid was locked and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq placed under house arrest Saturday on Eid-ul-Adha, denying devotees the opportunity to offer prayers and provoking a backlash from many, including CM Omar Abdullah. Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, which looks after the mosque management, said the gates were closed early Saturday morning and police deployed outside. Mirwaiz and Hurriyat Conference chairman Umar Farooq's family has traditionally led prayers at the mosque for generations. 'It is deeply regrettable that once again, people were not allowed to offer Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid,' Omar said. He expressed helplessness, saying law and order in J&K Union territory fell under the purview of lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha's administration. 'I have no idea on what grounds such decisions are made,' the CM said. Omar urged the authorities to trust J&K's residents, saying 'these are the same people who, after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, came forward and unequivocally condemned it'. The CM called on 'the govt' to reconsider such actions in the future, alluding probably to the administration of the Centre-appointed LG. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq decried the mosque closure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트 최대 할인 지원해드려요 임플란터 더 알아보기 Undo 'Yet again, Kashmir wakes up to the sad reality: no Eid prayers at Eidgah, and Jama Masjid locked down for 7th straight year. I, too, have been detained at my home. In a Muslim-majority region, Muslims are deprived of their fundamental right to pray even on their most important religious occasion celebrated across the world! What a shame on those who rule over us, and on those elected by the people who choose to remain silent as our rights are trampled over, again and again,' the Mirwaiz posted on X. J&K police and home department had not issued any statement on locking of the mosque and Mirwaiz's detention. PDP president and former CM Mehbooba Mufti joined the condemnation, accusing the Omar-led govt of being 'mere spectators'. 'J&K is the only Muslim-majority region in the country, and yet it is here that a major mosque is shut down on Eid, denying people their right to offer prayers. If govt claims everything is normal in J&K, why is the Mirwaiz not allowed to offer prayers,' Mehbooba said. Asked about the restrictions, BJP functionary and J&K Waqf Board chairperson Darkshan Andrabi declined comment. 'Jamia Masjid doesn't come under Waqf Board,' she said.

4 months on, still no aid given to Kumbh stampede victim's family: Court raps UP

A two-judge vacation bench of the Allahabad High Court has come down on the Uttar Pradesh government over a delay in disbursing ex-gratia compensation to the families of those who died in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on January a petition filed by one Uday Pratap Singh, a bench of Justices Saumitra Dayal Singh and Sandeep Jain said once the government had announced compensation, it was its "bounden duty" to ensure timely and dignified court also expressed concerns over the body of a stampede victim being handed over to her family without any autopsy or postmortem conducted in a state-run medical college. "It is alarming that the state authorities appear to have handed over the body of the wife of the petitioner to his son on February 5, 2025. Four months have passed and no part of the ex-gratia compensation announced by the state has been offered to the petitioner," the court chief standing counsel submitted that since the petitioner has not raised that claim, the stage has not arrived for it to be court said, "Prima facie, we find the stand taken to be untenable and smacking of apathy to the plight of the citizen. It was the bounden duty of the State to pay compensation to the aggrieved families with the utmost grace and dignity."advertisement"Once the identity of the family of the deceased was known to the state, it appears to be a pretence and an excuse on part of the state to ask the aggrieved family who had come from far-off places to beg for money from the state for the irreversible loss suffered by the petitioner, certainly not on account of any fault committed by the deceased," the court added."The state remains the trustee of its citizens. It is not only obligated to protect their lives and keep them safe from avoidable losses, it remains obligated and duty-bound to offer remedies and care where such unintended loss may be suffered. It is undisputed that the management of the Kumbh Mela was in the hands of the state and no other authority," the bench its order passed on Friday, the court directed the state authorities to file an affidavit disclosing full details of the total number of claims received for the payment of ex-gratia compensation; the number of claims decided and pending, together with the dates of receipt of such claims with minimal details of the claimants as also the date of their court directed for the impleadment of multiple medical institutions and authorities in Prayagraj as parties to the petition and asked them to file affidavits disclosing all deaths and the details of the medical handling of victims between January 28 and the conclusion of the Maha to the facts of the case, the petitioner's wife was injured in the stampede and was initially believed to be missing. Later, her body was handed over to her son from the mortuary of the Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayagraj on February inquest report and the post-mortem or autopsy report were not prepared at that stage. Since the petitioner is a resident of Karaunda in Bihar's Kaimur (Bhabhua) district, he took his wife's body to his home district, where the inquest and autopsy reports were court fixed July 18 as the next date of hearing in the InMust Watch IN THIS STORY#Uttar Pradesh#Maha Kumbh
