Mahabharat To Be Aamir Khan's Last Film? Actor Hints At It: 'I Can't Do Anything After This'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan reveals his dream of making Mahabharat, hinting it might be his last film. While promoting his upcoming release Sitaare Zameen Par, actor Aamir Khan revealed that once the film is out, he plans to dive into the making of Mahabharat. The scale of the project, he hinted, could be so immense that it might just be the final film of his career. In a conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Aamir said, 'It's layered, it has emotion, it has scale, everything you find in the world, you will find in Mahabharat." He called it the one story that has stayed with him over the years, something he has always dreamed of making for the big screen. When asked about his last film, Aamir reflected, 'Maybe after doing this, I will feel that I have nothing left to do. I cannot do anything after this, as the material of this film is going to be like that." He further added, 'I hope that I die with my shoes on, but since you are asking, this is the one thing I can think of. Perhaps after this, I will feel that I don't need to do anything else." Aamir had previously told The Hollywood Reporter just how ambitious the Mahabharat project will be. 'That's one of my biggest ambitions," he said, admitting that even developing the script would take years. Aamir Khan also said that he's not sure if he will act in The Mahabharat yet. The team will pick actors based on who fits each role. 'We'll see who we should cast based on who's appropriate for which part," he clarified. He also shared that he may not direct the film himself because it's a big project and will need several films to tell the full story. 'I don't think you can tell the Mahabharat in one film, so it will be multiple films. I am looking at the large scale." Noting that it maybe a multi-director project, he added, 'It's too early to say, but we may need multiple directors." He also explained the scale of storytelling involved. Mahabharat won't be a single film. 'To complete it within a set time, we will need more than one director," he noted, hinting at a large-scale, multi-part production that could redefine Indian cinema. First Published:
