Aamir Khan plans to start working on his dream project, The Mahabharat, this year. The film will be made in multiple parts, similar to The Lord of the Rings.
Aamir Khan has often spoken about Mahabharata, his long-standing dream project. Every now and then, rumours about the film emerges, only to die down. The superstar recently spoke about the film adaption of the epic. In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor shared plans for his next big project, where he'll also be stepping in as a producer. He called the film, The
Mahabharat, one of his biggest dreams and said he hopes to start working on it this year.
Said Aamir, 'I'm hoping to start work on this year." He shared that The Mahabharat will be made in multiple parts, like the Lord of the Rings movies. But he also said it won't start right away, as the writing will take time. 'It will take a while because the writing process will take a few years," he said.
Aamir Khan said he's not sure if he will act in The Mahabharat yet. The team will pick actors based on who fits each role. 'We'll see who we should cast based on who's appropriate for which part," he clarified. He also shared that he may not direct the film himself because it's a big project and will need several films to tell the full story. 'I don't think you can tell the Mahabharat in one film, so it will be multiple films. I am looking at the large scale." Noting that it maybe a multi-director project, he added, 'It's too early to say, but we may need multiple directors."
On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chadha (2022), which tanked at the box office. Next, he will be seen Sitaare Zameen Par, a thematic sequel to his 2007 blockbuster, Taare Zameen Par.
The film, directed by RS Prasanna, will see Aamir reunite with Taare Zameen Par actor Darsheel Safary and star opposite Genelia Deshmukh. While a release date hasn't been locked in yet, anticipation is high as fans await another heartwarming and transformative cinematic experience from Aamir.

Aamir Khan was once slated to star in this Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster. 31 years later, actor says, ‘I didn't say no…'
The 1993 psychological thriller Darr, directed by the legendary Yash Chopra , was a landmark film that shaped the trajectory of Shah Rukh Khan 's stardom. In the film, Shah Rukh portrayed a deeply disturbed stalker fixated on a woman named Kiran, portrayed by Juhi Chawla. His character, Rahul, was dangerously obsessed, willing to harm anyone who stood between him and the woman he desired. Sunny Deol played the conventional protagonist—a protective fiancé fighting for his love. However, before Shah Rukh was cast as the obsessive antagonist, the role had initially been offered to Aamir Khan . During a recent conversation with Zoom, Aamir revealed that, contrary to popular belief, he hadn't rejected Darr. Instead, he was dismissed from the project. He explained that he had agreed to do the film, but his insistence on a joint script narration with both lead actors led to his removal. Aamir revealed he firmly believes that when a film features more than one central character, all key actors should be present for a collaborative narration. This approach, according to him, ensures mutual understanding and cohesive teamwork. Eventually, the narration took place jointly, adhering to Aamir's condition. After Darr was released, the film garnered significant success and became the third highest-grossing film of the year. Shah Rukh Khan's chilling portrayal of Rahul won critical acclaim and immense popularity, catapulting him into a league of unconventional anti-heroes. However, behind the film's commercial triumph, there was brewing tension on set. Sunny Deol was dissatisfied with how his character was portrayed, feeling that the narrative and screen space favored Shah Rukh's role over his own. This perceived imbalance led to long-standing friction between Sunny and Shah Rukh. Their rift lasted for years, marked by cold shoulders and avoidance in public appearances. However, the bitterness was finally put to rest in 2023 when Shah Rukh attended the success celebration of Gadar 2, a significant gesture that brought closure to their decades-old feud. Darr remains memorable not just for its gripping storyline and performances but also for the behind-the-scenes drama that shaped its casting and legacy.

While doing rounds for promotions, Mr Perfectionist talked about his failures in marriages and shed light on his reported cameo in Lokesh Kanagaraj's next. 'Humare parivar ke liye bhi ye ek cheez hain jisse hum khush nahi hain. Hum khushi-khushi ye cheez nahi kar rahe hain. Lekin kuch circumstances aise aayein jisme humein lagta hain ki shayad humara rishta badal gaya hain. Toh meri thinking ye hain ki yaa toh main duniya ko jhooth bol sakta hoon aur pretend kar sakta hoon ki Kiran aur main bohot khush hain aur hum log shaadi-shuda hain," said the actor. (For our family, too, this is one thing that we are not happy about. We are not doing these things happily. However, some circumstances have arisen in which we feel our relationship may have evolved. So my thinking is that maybe I can lie to the world and pretend that Kiran and I are very happy.) The 60-year-old joked about his divorces and said, "Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I have not succeeded in marriage, but I have succeeded in divorce)." For the unversed, the actor has been divorced twice.
