Gwynedd man, 25, dies after fall from hotel balcony in Malta
Kieran Thomas Hughes, of Caernarfon, reportedly died after falling from a hotel balcony at at the Cavalieri Art Hotel in the town of St Julian in the early hours of Friday (July 11) morning.
It is understood the 25-year-old was born in Bangor.
In a statement, The Malta Police Force said: "Early this morning (July 11) at around 4.15am, the police were informed that their assistance was needed in Triq Spinola, St Julian's.
"The Police went immediately on site and from preliminary investigations, it resulted that a 25-year-old British man fell from a hotel balcony.
"A medical team was called to the scene but unfortunately, he was certified dead on site.
"Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D was informed about the case and appointed various experts to assist in the inquiry, whilst Police investigations are ongoing."
In a statement, Sian Gwenllian, Member of the Senedd for Arfon, said: "The news of the death of a 25-year-old man from Gwynedd in Malta is truly horrific.
"It's absolutely impossible to discern the pain of the family. I, along with the rest of the people of Gwynedd, think of them in their grief."
Liz Saville Roberts, MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, said: "Heartbreaking news. My heart goes out to the young man's family at this extremely difficult time."
