Waterford boy says he's 'luckiest guy in the world' after performing with The Script
A 13-YEAR-OLD BOY who joined his favourite band The Script live on stage has said the experience was a dream come true. Charlie Comerford from Dunhill, Waterford, said he could not believe his luck when the band's frontman, Danny O'Donoghue, invited him on stage at Thomond Park, Limerick, during the finale of The Script's Satellites Tour in Ireland, last Saturday night. Speaking for the first time about it, Charlie said: 'I thought I was the luckiest guy in the whole world, because there was 28,000 people there and out of the 28,000 people (Danny) picked me.' Charlie said music does what it should do for everyone, and soothes his soul whenever he feels down: 'Whenever I feel a little bad or any emotions at all, I go to my room and listen to (The Script).' Recalling the moment that O'Donoghue spotted him in the crowd and invited him to perform with the band on stage, Charlie said: 'Danny kind of noticed me three times, he high five'd me twice and brought me up on stage (the third time) and I just felt so lucky because they are my favourite band in the whole world,' he told radio station Live 95FM. To top it all off, Charlie ended the night singing a duet with O'Donoghue and band, and even pressed the final note on O'Donoghue's piano to finish the tune. 'We sang 'Never Seen Anything- Quiet Like You' and oh my God…,' said Charlie enthralled. Asked if he had been nervous up on stage in front of thousands of Script fans, Charlie replied: 'Maybe a little nervous, but I felt very excited because it's not very often you go in front of 28,000 people with your favourite (singer) ever.' 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' is his favourite Script song, 'because it's just a classic.' 'It actually wasn't very loud on stage, it's louder when you're down in the crowd,' he added. The Script emotional TRNSMT moment as Danny O'Donoghue pays tribute to dead bandmate
"I like to think there is a big festival up there and they are all drinking whisky" The Script's Danny O'Donoghue paid tribute to late bandmate Mark Sheehan as he performed If You Could See Me Now at the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow. Mark passed away in hospital after a short illness in 2023. Danny who got an huge response to songs including The Man Who Can't Be Moved during their set explained: 'It's always bittersweet. "Because the last time we were on stage, we had our bandmate and my best mate Mark on stage and he passed away. "I just wanted to say thank-you so much for all your thoughts and all your prayers and everything you've done to get us back performing again. "He would have absolutely loved this. Y'all know he's up there right now with every single person here, who's lost someone. I like to think there is a big festival up there and they are all drinking whisky, look down on us moving. It's big gig up on the sky. 'We know that they're not gone they still with us everyday in their hearts and minds.' In other TRNSMT news, Scottish rapper Bemz got his girlfriend's uncle up on stage to play bass during his song Mula. The Script star defies the one thing he was told not to do at TRNSMT
The 44-year-old Irish hunk was performing on the main stage before rapper 50 Cent when he revealed: 'TRNSMT! You have no idea how good it feels to be on this stage.' He then admitted that his band has attracted a new legion of fans thanks to their 2008 single, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, which is fast approaching one billion streams. The star then added that The Script co-founder would have loved it. Superheroes, 2017 track Rain, and new single Inside Out entertained the thousands who turned out to watch the performance by the Dubliners. Irish chart-toppers The Script perform in Llangollen
They certainly 'painted the town green' in the beautiful Dee Valley as they brought their Satellites UK Tour to a delighted sell-out crowd. Made up of Danny O'Donoghue (vocals), Glen Power (drums), Ben Sargeant (bass) and Ben Weaver (guitar) - The Script first rose to fame in 2008 with the release of their self-titled debut album, which featured hit singles The Man Who Can't Be Moved and Breakeven. Since then, the band has enjoyed a hit-filled career including six number one albums. The multi-platinum band delivered a hit-filled, high-energy set in the North Wales town that had fans singing along from the very first note. Opening with the anthemic Superheroes, The Script powered through a career-spanning 90-minute show featuring fan favourites including Rain, For the First Time, Six Degrees of Separation, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, Nothing, Paint the Town Green and The Last Time. Frontman Danny O'Donoghue kept fans hanging on every word, blending soaring vocals with heartfelt storytelling in true Script style. One lucky lady in particular was the envy of many as Danny plucked her from the to dance with him on stage. But the showman he is, he got in amongst the rest of the crowd - add in confetti canons and pyrotechnics - we had it all. The night reached a powerful finale with a three-song encore, featuring the emotional Home Is Where the Hurt Is, global hit Breakeven, and their UK number one hit single Hall of Fame. Earlier, special guest BRIT Award winner Tom Walker opened the evening with a soulful and captivating set, showcasing his powerhouse vocals and hit songs including Leave a Light On and Just You and I.
