The Big E fair celebrates record attendance Flash Sale

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Eastern States Exposition is holding a 'Flash Sale' on Wednesday to celebrate the 100-day countdown to The Big E Fair. Free concert lineup announced for The Big E Fair in September From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., general admission tickets to New England's Great State Fair are on sale for only $10 with a $0.75 fee. Regular ticket prices cost $21.50. There is a limit of eight tickets per order. The discounted tickets are available online only at This Flash Sale is a way for the Eastern States Exposition to say thank you to attendees for helping make last year's fair memorable, as they had the best attendance to date, with numbers reaching a record-setting 1,633,935. Discounted tickets will allow attendees to visit the Big E Fair for half off the regular general admission price, Monday through Thursday. With purchasing these tickets, you get access to free concerts like The Marshall Tucker Band, Sister Hazel, and Elliot Lurie of Looking Glass on the Court of Honor Stage, plus the Circus Spectacular, Country-themed shows at Dolly's Honky Tonk, grounds attractions and variety performances for only $10.75. The Big E Fair will be taking place from September 12th through the 28th. WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Big E has announced its lineup of free concerts and variety performances coming to the fair this fall. Train to perform at The Big E Arena in September These concerts will take place at The Big E's Court of Honor Stage, a venue in front of the Coliseum. During the fair, four daily shows will take place at the venue. This year, 70s southern rock group The Marshall Tucker Band will make an appearance, as well as Seals & Crofts 2, created by Jim Seals' cousin Brady and Dash Crofts' daughter Lua. Rapper and singer B.o.B., best known for the 2010 hit song 'Airplanes,' will also take the stage. ‘See you soon': Marshall Tucker Band's Doug Gray steps away from tour over health issues

Doug Gray, The Marshall Tucker Band's lead singer and founding member, is taking a break from their All Our Friends Tour due to health issues. The country band announced the news on their Instagram handle as a post on April 16. The 76-year-old singer's post said 'Taking care of business as I always do. Thanks and see you soon.' The band also added that Gray will be 'fully involved in all aspects of the tour' while he cannot make it to perform on stage. Gray also said, 'Everyone knows I'm not one to sit on my hands. I'll be making sure all of the stars are aligned. Let's rock!' The rest of The Marshall Tucker Band, including Chris Hicks on the lead guitar, B.B. Borden on the drums, Rick Willis on the rhythm guitar, Marcus James Henderson on aerophones, and Ryan Ware on the bass will continue to perform on the All Our Friends Tour as scheduled. Their next show will be performed at Peppermill Concert Hall in West Wendover, NV on May 9. The band is credited with helping the rise and establishment of the Southern rock genre with its subtle fusions with other genres like country and jazz. The band released its eponymous album in 1973 and gained recognition by touring with Florida's The Allman Brothers Band. The Marshall Tucker Band continued to win hearts throughout the rest of the '70s with most of their albums being a classic hit. The band peaked when their 1977 album 'Carolina Dreams' was released and earned a platinum-certified level by selling over a million units in the U.S. with a top 15 single titled 'Heard It in a Love Song.'

Nebraska State Fair announces Righteous Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band as part of 4 indoor performances

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KCAU) — The Nebraska State Fair has announced four performances set to take place during the fair in late August. The performances include musical artists such as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo The Righteous Brothers; classic rockers The Marshall Tucker Band; Christian music star Matthew West with special guest Josiah Queen; and comedian Brian Regan. All four will take place in the Heartland Events Center as part of the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series indoor shows, the fair said in a release. Country artist Patrick McCollum coming to Sioux City 'The Nebraska Lottery Concert Series always strives to have something for everyone,' the fair's executive director Jaime Parr said in a statement. 'This year's lineup certainly checks that box.' First on the calendar to perform is Matthew West on Sunday, Aug. 24. He has had a two-decade career and is the reigning KLOVE Artist of the Year. He's scored 25 number one hits, including 'My Jesus,' 'You Are Everything,' 'The Motions,' 'Strong Enough' and 'Hello My Name Is.' He is also a five-time Grammy nominee and has written songs for other artists like Casting Crowns, Rascal Flatts, and Scotty McCreery. On Monday, Aug. 25, The Righteous Brothers will perform for the annual Older Nebraskans Day concert. The duo is known for number one hits like 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin',' 'Soul & Inspiration,' 'Unchained Melody,' 'Rock and Roll Heaven,' and 'Dirty Dancing' theme 'The Time of My Life.' The duo originally consisted of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield until Hatfield's death in 2003. Bucky Heard later joined Medley. 'It's not often you get a chance to hear Hall of Famers singing such major hits like this,' Parr said in a statement. 'We are thrilled to have The Righteous Brothers on Older Nebraskans Day.' On Tuesday, Aug. 26, comedian Brian Regan will be taking the microphone. He's had two Netflix- stand up specials: 'On the Rocks' and 'Nunchucks and Flamethrowers.' He has also appeared on multiple late-night talks shows, including 28 times on 'The Late Show with David Letterman.' The Marshall Tucker Band will perform their classic rock on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Known for hits such as 'Can't You See,' 'Heard It In A Love Song,' 'Fire On The Mountain,' 'Ramblin,' and 'Take The Highway,' the band still plays more than 150 shows a year. The fair has also announced that Sawyer Brown, Theory of a Deadman, Skillet, and La Arrolladora will perform.
