Dolphins host former Arizona, New Mexico RB on visit
Dolphins host former Arizona, New Mexico RB on visit The Miami Dolphins hosted Arizona running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt on a visit Monday, according to a post on his social media. Croskey-Merritt began his collegiate career at Alabama State and spent one season at New Mexico before joining Arizona for the 2024 season. But he played just one game with the Wildcats and missed the remainder of the year as the NCAA reevaluated his eligibility status. In his sole game with Arizona, Croskey-Merritt ran for 106 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Prior to 2024, Croskey-Merritt earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors after running for 1,190 yards and recording 18 touchdowns with New Mexico. While he didn't receive an invite to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Croskey-Merritt was the MVP of the East-West Shrine Bowl and measured in at 5'10, 206 pounds at the Big 12 Pro Day. Earlier this offseason, the Dolphins cut ties with veteran running back Raheem Mostert and allowed Jeff Wilson to reach free agency. The team signed former Vikins and Raiders running back Alexander Mattison in free agency to join De'Von Achane and 2024 fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright in the Miami backfield.

Dolphins finalizing deal with Jets S Ashtyn Davis, per report
Dolphins finalizing deal with Jets S Ashtyn Davis, per report The Miami Dolphins are finalizing a deal with New York Jets safety Ashtyn Davis, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports. Terms of the agreed upon contract haven't yet been revealed. Davis, 28, was a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft and spent much of his five seasons with the Jets as a backup who contributed on special teams. In 69 career games in New York, Davis started 22 and finished his time with the team with eight interceptions, three forced fumbles, and nine tackles for loss. Despite his limited time in the starting lineup, Davis emerged as a reliable defensive back for the Jets in the last two seasons -- finishing both years with a PFF grade above 71. He was especially effective in coverage during the 2023 season when he held quarterbacks to a 32.0 passer rating when targeted. In what proved to be his last game with the Jets, Davis twice intercepted Dolphins quarterback Tyler Huntley. In Miami, Davis should compete for the full-time starting role that eluded him in New York. While the team is also set to sign Detroit Lions safety Ifeatu Melifonwu on a one-year, $4 million deal and bring back safety and special teamer Elijah Campbell, the only other player at the position is 2024 sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris.
