Noel Gallagher makes dig at royal family on second night of Croke Park shows

Noel Gallagher made a brutal dig at the British royal family on the last night of their sold out Croke Park shows. The second night of the Live Forever songwriters sold out Croke Park shows has seen as much energy and interaction as night one with 80,000 fans belting out Oasis lyrics in a packed stadium. Before Noel started into Half The World Away after Talk Tonight Noel asked the crowd: "Anyone from Manchester?" But rather than some cheers, the crowd started booing, The Mirror UK reports. Shocked by the response, he added: "Excuse me, excuse me? Booing for the people in Manchester? Oh no, no, no, no, that won't do! Be nice!" As he introduced Half The World Away, he said: "This is for the Royle Family – the real Royal Family," a swipe at the House of Windsor. Ahead of Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, he said he wasn't "anti-royal" but noted that the "appeal" of the monarchy had been "dwindling". Noel Gallagher on stage during the first of two Oasis shows (Image: Philip Fitzpatrick) "There are other things for people to be interested in," he commented, before branding the monarchy as "a bit farcical." Liam was also on the receiving end of a few boos when he gave Mayo a shoutout. "Anyone here from Mayo?" Liam asked, before the crowd started booing. "F***ing booing?!" he fumed, before adding: "Charlestown? This one's for you," and started into Fade Away. The town has a significant meaning to Liam and Noel, as it's where their beloved mum, Peggy is from. Peggy is attending both Dublin concerts, having avoided the all-standing shows in Manchester, so she is able to kick back in luxury surroundings. Saturday also saw a shoutout for Charlestown, but this went down a bit better. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.

Superman actor Terence Stamp dies, aged 87

Superman actor Terence Stamp has reportedly died aged 87, his family has confirmed. The movie star is best known for playing General Zod in the Hollywood hits Superman and Superman II. Stamp, who was an Oscar nominated actor, also appeared in Pier Paolo Pasolini's Theorem in 1968, A Season in Hell in 1971 and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994, where he starred as a transgender woman, The Mirror UK reports. The actor is said to have died this morning. Stamp was born in London's East End in 1938 as the son of a tugboat stoker. His early years saw him endure the bombing of the city during World War Two. Before leaving school to work in advertising, Stamp won a scholarship to go to drama school. "He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come," the family said in a statement. "We ask for privacy at this sad time." His cause of death has not been reported. Stamp was known for his good looks and dress sense alongside his acting as he was dubbed one of Britain's most glamorous couples with Julie Christie. They had starred together in Far From the Madding Crowd in 1967. The actor also dated model Jean Shrimpton, and became photographer David Bailey's muse. Stamp lost out on the role of James Bond but went on to work in Italian films. He worked with Federico Fellini in the late 1960s. Stamp decided to take a break from the glitzy world of Hollywood fame as he studied yoga in India. However, upon his return he bagged his most high-profile role. He appeared as General Zod, the megalomaniacal leader of the Kryptonians, in Superman in 1978 and its sequel in 1980. The actor would often recall how he was about to become a tantric sex teacher at an ashram in India before getting a telegram from his London agent. "I was on the night flight the next day," Stamp told Watkins Books in 2015 of the moment he received the Superman call after eight years out of work. Stamp went on to star in Valkyrie with Tom Cruise in 2008, The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon in 2011 as well as Tim Burton films. Speaking of his life, Stamp once said: "The great blessing of my life is that I had the really hard bit at the beginning because we were really poor." Before landing his acting scholarship, Stamp chose to keep his ambitions a secret from his family as he feared disapproval. "I couldn't tell anyone I wanted to be an actor because it was out of the question. I would have been laughed at," he confessed. Stamp married pharmacist Elizabeth O'Rourke in 2002 aged 64. However they divorced in 2008 and Stamp never married again. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.

Ozzy Osbourne once made a posh Italian restaurant serve Indian chicken curry takeout on their branded plates: ‘He was obsessed with chicken Madras'

Growing up in Marston Green, a town just outside Birmingham, England, Ozzy Osbourne's love for curries was never really a surprise. The area's often called Britain's 'curry capital,' given its deep-rooted Indian and Bangladeshi food culture, flavours that go all the way back to the 1940s. It's the go-to cuisine for most people there, and the legendary rock icon and Black Sabbath frontman was one of them. He was obsessed with curries to the point he even came up with his own signature recipe. And while fans around the world are mourning the loss of the superstar, there's one story that fans in India, and die-hard curry lovers, might never forget. Also read: Ozzy Osbourne revealed how he wanted to be remembered amid debilitating Parkinson's and spinal injuries before death The incident dates back to the early 2010s, when Ozzy caused a scene at Cipriani, one of London's most high-end Italian restaurants. The place is known for its exotic, top-tier European dishes, risotto, pasta, and its own signature specials. One fine day, Ozzy walked in with his wife and manager Sharon, and her X Factor co-judge Louis Walsh. The staff welcomed them and handed over the menu, filled with elegant-sounding plates. Ozzy glanced, shoved it aside and said, 'I want a curry.' At first, the staff tried convincing him: 'Risotto? Maybe something customised?' But Ozzy wouldn't budge. He kept saying it again and again. 'Ozzy was completely unfazed by the situation and insisted he was in the mood for a curry. Sharon and Walsh kept telling him he should just have a nice bowl of pasta or something, but he wouldn't budge,' a source told The Mirror UK at the time. All he wanted was chicken curry, 'as far as he was concerned, that was the end of it,' the source added. Eventually, not wanting to disappoint one of rock's biggest icons, or risk the bad press, the restaurant sent a staff member rushing to a nearby curry spot in Mayfair. They brought back the takeout and served the takeaway chicken curry on their own branded plates. Ozzy was definitely thrilled. Also read: Ozzy Osbourne, iconic Black Sabbath frontman and British heavy metal pioneer, dies at 76 Ozzy's love for curries developed at his hometown, where, in the early 1940s, Bangladeshi and Indian immigrants opened restaurants that served everyone from lawyers to pub-goers with rice and curry. Over time, Birmingham developed its own curry identity, especially the desi called 'Balti,' born out of Pakistani and Kashmiri kitchens, and soon became a sensational UK cuisine. Back in 1988, the Prince of Darkness even came up with his own version of the dish. It ended up in a cookbook called Rock 'N' Roll Cuisine, a wild compilation of recipes by rock stars. Ozzy submitted the recipe with ingredients like chicken, apples, lemon juice, canned fruit like pineapple or peaches, and a jar of curry powder. On a podcast with his friend Billy Morrison, Ozzy once said, 'When I find something I like, I'll eat it until I'm sick of it.' Curry was one of those comfort foods. His go-to spot was Bombay Palace, where he swore by their chicken madras and vindaloo. His daughter Kelly once revealed Ozzy could go through 25 apples a day, but curry was the real obsession. And somewhere in Mayfair, there's still a story about the night Cipriani's upscale kitchen had to make room for a chicken madras, because Ozzy Osbourne didn't take no for an answer. Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 after battling Parkinson's and multiple surgeries. His last performance came in July 2025, where he reunited with the band to raise money for the patients of Parkinson's. His family confirmed in a post that Ozzy died in peace, surrounded by his loved ones.

'I like to fly under the radar': Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, breaks her silence on being called the Royal Family's 'secret weapon' during emotional visit to Bosnia

Duchess Sophie has spoken for the first time about being labelled the Royal Family's "secret weapon" and revealed what she thinks she should be called instead. The Duchess of Edinburgh, 60, gave a rare and candid interview to The Mirror UK while on a three-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on behalf of King Charles III. The mother-of-two travelled to the region to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, in which around 8,000 Muslim men and boys were brutally killed during the Bosnian War in July 1995. While there, she delivered a speech on behalf of the King, visited a memorial cemetery and met with members of the 'Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Zepa' group, hearing first-hand from the families of victims about efforts to heal the wounds of war and ensure justice is done. Just one day before departing for Bosnia, Sophie and her husband, Prince Edward, 61, joined the royal family at a state banquet in honour of French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. The Duchess, who has increasingly stepped into higher-profile roles as the monarchy continues to slim down, acknowledged the "secret weapon" label but suggested she prefers a quieter approach. "I like to fly under the radar," she told The Mirror after laying a flower at the Srebrenica Memorial Cemetery. "It's all very well being a secret weapon but if no one knows, maybe it's too secret." She added: "I suppose I should take it as a backhanded compliment. I don't see myself in a frontline position per se, that said admittedly there are fewer working members of the family these days so I suppose more and more I'm becoming less secretive. I just wonder what they are going to describe me as next!" When asked how she would describe herself, Sophie said: "I don't know, I am going to leave that for others, it would be very presumptuous for me to suggest something, that could go badly wrong." Sophie also reflected on becoming the Duchess of Edinburgh two years ago- a title once held by her beloved late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II. "First of all it was quite large shoes to fill because not as many of the population alive today will remember but the Queen was Duchess of Edinburgh for the first few years when she and my father-in-law first married," she said. "For me, it was quite an emotional thing to sort of step into her shoes … it felt like quite a big moment." On a more "practical" note, Sophie said hers and her husband's role "is to support the King as it was to support the Queen". Since meeting Queen Elizabeth's youngest son at a tennis event in 1993 and marrying into the Royal Family six years later, Sophie has built a reputation not only for her loyalty but also for her commitment to championing causes that are close to her heart. As patron of more than 70 charities and organisations, each year the Duchess carries out hundreds of visits to schools, hospitals, military bases, charities and community groups both in the UK and abroad. With such a demanding schedule, she admitted that the emotional weight of her work, which often focuses on issues facing women, can sometimes be heavy. "It can take its toll on emotions, that's for sure," she said after watching others pay their respects at the Srebrenica memorial cemetery. "I can be emotional but that's not going to help them. I have to be able to take their message and amplify it and that's what I am here to do."

Dad left shocked after Disneyland breakfast bill over €800

One outraged dad was left almost 'spitting out his coffee' after he was landed with an €812 breakfast bill at Disneyland. A family of five headed to the famous California theme park booked the Princess Breakfast in a bid to make their trip all that more special, however, the dad was completely taken aback by the amount he had to pay, including a tip of over €100, The Mirror UK reports. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to air his frustrations, the dad shared a photo of his receipt from the pricey breakfast, with a tip of $150 (€130) for a total of $937.65 (€813). He added the caption: "'Princess Breakfast' at Disneyland with my kids. Almost spit out my coffee." He added in the comment section: "I think if someone went to Disneyland and insisted on doing All The Things they could easily spend $3,000 per day. If I find that goddamn mouse I am going to mug him." The dad's post racked up almost 17 million views, as people were left shocked by the massive price of the breakfast. One wrote: "This is why my daughter continues to believe Disney is closed for Covid." A second penned: "For that much money you can get an after hours private tour of the Vatican." A third candidly asked: "How many princesses did you eat?!" while another penned: "I can see why you didn't spit out your coffee … it probably cost $45." Others applauded him with: "You're a great dad for doing this…better than I'll ever be." Another asked: "I'm going to assume there was no booze included in this?", and the dad replied: "One Bloody Mary." On the Disneyland website, it describes the 'Princess Breakfast' as an "unforgettable 3-course breakfast" with "enchanting encounters with some favourite Disney Princesses." It also states that it starts at $142 (€123).
