Grateful Dead's Massive 2025 Continues With Another New Bestseller
The Grateful Dead's The Music Never Stopped debuts at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, marking ... More the band's fourth new bestseller of 2025. NEW YORK - OCTOBER 14: Bob Weir (L) and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead attend the signing of "Rocking The Cradle: Egypt 1978" at Best Buy on October 14, 2008 in New York City. (Photo by) The Grateful Dead may no longer be performing together, but when it comes to the band's string of releases, the music has never stopped. That's clearly reflected in the group's latest project, as the jam rockers score a new bestseller in America as The Music Never Stopped arrives and adds to the outfit's incredibly impressive run of top-performing titles. The Music Never Stopped appears on just one Billboard chart this week, following its first complete tracking frame of availability. The set opens at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, launching with just under 3,900 pure purchases, according to Luminate. No. 19 is actually fairly low for the Grateful Dead when it comes to a debut position on the Top Album Sales chart. The band typically starts new collections inside the top 10, and daily frequently, very close to the summit. While it does miss the loftiest space on the list, it's worth noting that The Music Never Stopped is the group's fourth new arrival on the list of the top-selling albums in the U.S. in 2025 alone. The band has stalled in the runner-up spot with half of those collections, as both Dave's Picks, Volume 53: Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH - 10/2/76 and Dave's Picks, Volume 54: Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD - 3/26/73 missed out on becoming another leader for the group by just one space back in April. Another live set, Beacon Theatre - New York, NY - June 14, 1976, rose as high as No. 27 this spring. Four new bestsellers in only six months is a major accomplishment for any act — even the Grateful Dead, which ranks as one of the most successful names in the history of the Top Album Sales chart. The beloved troupe has collected 131 titles on the tally throughout the years, with dozens of them cracking the top 10. Typically, those efforts also land on the Billboard 200 and some of the company's rock rankings, but this time around, the Grateful Dead is restricted to just this one roster.
