Really, Bradley's just doing me a favor. He's a friend. We've stayed in close contact since the Guardians movies, and I admire him greatly as an actor and as a director. I just said, 'Hey, will you do me a favor? Come down, go to England, we're going to shoot you in a 3D environment, make a hologram of you, and you can play Jor-El. He was like, 'Okay.' During another recent interview with Screen Rant, James Gunn also stated his Superman is 'about a person who thinks of himself in a certain way, finds out that isn't true, and has to recontextualize who he is in the face of that.' This is about his interior life. At the core of the story – it's surrounded by pyrotechnics and flying dogs and robots – but at the core of the story it's about a person who thinks of himself in a certain way, finds out that isn't true, and has to recontextualize who he is in the face of that. That isn't really what your normal Superman story is, nor any hero's story, for the most part. So I think that's a difference. He's more vulnerable in that way. And then physically – I mean, listen, he's fighting an equal and opposite force. So, in some ways, it's no different than when Superman was fighting the bad guys in Superman II, in Donner's film. But we do see him bleed, which is different. He can't make the world go backwards in time through spinning around it. So I kind of took a Superman that was a mix of different Supermans throughout the comics in terms of his power set. The Odyssey Set Photos Reveal Zendaya's Athena in Costume
New set photos of Christopher Nolan's share a glimpse of character, Athena, alongside . The upcoming movie is set to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026. It also features multiple other stars, including Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and more. Fans got the first look at Zendaya's Athena from the set of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey after some set photos made their way to the internet. The photos were posted by a fan account named @ChrisNolanMedia on X (formerly Twitter). In the snaps, Zendaya embodied Zeus' daughter and the goddess of wisdom as she was dressed in an off-white, sleeveless, and long Greek gown. The Spider-Man: No Way Home actress also had her hair tucked up. In another set of photos from the location, Zendaya is accompanied by Matt Damon. The latter plays the titular role of Odysseus in the movie. Damon sported a long gray beard and was shirtless in the photos. Here are the photos of Zendaya and Matt Damon from the set: Furthermore, this is the second glimpse of Damon's Odysseus, which differs from the first look that was released on February 17, 2025. Universal Pictures teased the first look at Odysseus in an Instagram post and wrote, 'Matt Damon is Odysseus. A film by Christopher Nolan, #TheOdysseyMovie is in theaters July 17, 2026.' Universal Pictures also described The Odyssey as 'a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.' The movie is based on the Greek poem The Odyssey, which was written by Homer. Nolan is shooting the film in Favignana, Italy, which was known as Aegusa (goat island) in ancient times. Parts of the filming will also take place on the island of Sicily. Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" First Look Photo Unveiled
Universal has unveiled the first look at Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated movie 'The Odyssey.' The photo was revealed Monday morning through the film's official X account and featured Matt Damon playing Odysseus in the epic feature. He will appear alongside an expansive cast including Tom Holland, Mia Goth, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, and John Leguizamo. The post included a photo of him in character and read, 'Matt Damon is Odysseus. A film by Christopher Nolan, #TheOdysseyMovie is in theaters July 17, 2026.' 'The Odyssey' follows the Greek champion Odysseus on his tumultuous journey home after the Trojan War. The story was first scribed by the ancient Greek poet Homer over 2,000 years ago and is one of the oldest stories still enjoyed by modern readers. Universal, a long-time Nolan collaborator and the film's distributor, said in December that 'The Odyssey' is a 'mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer's foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time.' Nolan penned the script and serves as director and producer. His wife, Emma Thomas, will also produce under the pair's Syncopy banner. Last month, it was reported that 'The Odyssey' will be partially filmed in Sicily, the setting of Odysseus' wanderings in the original text. Production, which is set to begin in the spring, will start on the Island of Favignana, colloquially known as 'goat island.' It is believed to have been where Homer imagined Odysseus would land with his crew. 'The Odyssey' marks the third collaboration between Nolan and Damon. 'The Departed' star had a supporting turn as Leslie Groves in the seven-time Oscar winner 'Oppenheimer' and played a small role in Nolan's sci-fi epic 'Interstellar.'
