How bad will things get for the Boston Celtics next season?
Expectations are low for the Boston Celtics as we head into the 2025-26 season. Joe Mazzulla's roster has lost a significant amount of talent this summer, with a host of young, unproven talent taking their place. As such, it's hard to envision the Celtics ending the campaign with a winning record, even in a weakened Eastern Conference.
Of course, it's easy to forget that Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser are still on the roster, all of whom played large parts in the franchise's 2024 championship. Nevertheless, there's a serious lack of depth within Mazzulla's roster, especially in the front court, where things could get ugly as the season progresses.
During a recent episode of "The Players' Choice" podcast, the hosting panel debated how bad things are going to get for the Celtics next season. Could they make the playoffs? Does the play-in tournament beckon? Or, could Mazzulla's team drop out of the postseason race completely and prioritize a high draft pick?
