A Scots schoolgirl was part of a magical moment after she stepped into the spotlight during Bruce Springsteen' s sold‑out show at Anfield Stadium, in Liverpool, to play a harmonica duet with the legendary musician. Holly Roy, from Carfin in North Lanarkshir e, was at the concert, with her mum Laura, on Wednesday, when the rockstar spotted the 12-year-old in the crowd while performing The Promised Land. ‌ The 75-year-old legend came down from the stage to join her, in a spontaneous duet under the stadium lights in a surprise that had fans reaching for tissues. ‌ The emotional exchange ended with a fist‑bump and Springsteen handing over his own harmonica to Holly, reports the LiverpoolEcho. Holly, has been teaching herself the harmonica for the past year, driven by her admiration for Springsteen. Speaking of the surreal moment, she told BBC Radio Scotland: "It was really good. Holly's mother Laura said her daughter had been practising on the pitch as they waited for Springsteen to come on. "A few people noticed and a lovely man from Japan said that when Bruce was playing The Promised Land, Holly should go up on his shoulders," she said. ‌ "Bruce started to approach the area where we were standing and he caught her eye so we put her back up on the man's shoulders and they played together. "It was just amazing. I've been a mega fan since Covid when I watched all the concerts during lockdown while Holly has become a fan in the past year." ‌ The 75-year-old arrived on stage to rapturous applause and a standing ovation, accompanied by loud shouts of "Bruce". He told fans at Anfield: "Good evening. It is great for us to be in Liverpool where, for us, it all began." The show in Liverpool is the first time on the European leg of the Land of Hope and Dreams tour that Springsteen has opened the set with My Love Will Not Let You Down. The Liverpool crowd was thrilled as The Boss entered the stage and performed the 2001 song. Having sold out countless arenas and stadiums around the world during his incredible career, the show was the first time Bruce has ever played in Liverpool. The Anfield shows follow Bruce and the band's three-night residency in Manchester's Co-op Live Arena. The rock legend has had a hugely successful career. He has released 21 studio albums in this time and earned many awards in the process including 20 Grammy Awards and 140 million records sold worldwide.

Footage has emerged online of Holly meeting Springsteen, 75, as he got up close with fans at the front barrier. While he performed the 1978 hit The Promised Land, he played the harmonica right in front of adoring fans. Holly has been learning the instrument and she brought the mouthpiece along for the concert. And she was recorded playing along with Springsteen in a dream duet. Afterwards, the rock veteran fist bumped Holly and handed her his harmonica. Taking to social media, her delighted dad, Brian, shared the video and posted: "My daughter, Holly, with The Boss at Anfield." Her aunt, Fiona McMahon, wrote: "Our amazing niece Holly Roy had the night of her life at the Bruce Springsteen concert in Liverpool - front row and living her dream. "She's been teaching herself the harmonica this past year after becoming a HUGE Springsteen fan. And last night, for her moment of fame. "Bruce himself walked over, played alongside her, duetted with her on the harmonica, fist-bumped her and then handed her his harmonica. Travis frontman Fran Healy reveals how festival favourite was almost 'never written' "What a moment. What a memory. What a wee superstar." Praising Holly, one person commented: "What a magnificent memory to keep forever." Another wrote: "What an amazing experience for her." A third said: "I heard her harmonica skills and she's amazing. I was super impressed. Amazing Holly."

This time, it's the European Union Film Festival 2025, running from May 15–25 at House Samyan. Now in its 31st edition, the festival returns with the theme ' Where Stories Meet, Cultures Unite' to celebrate European cinema's artistic excellence and cultural diversity. Guided by the idea that cinema can bridge cultures, open doors to untold stories, and offer new ways of seeing the world, this year's festival features 23 films curated by the EU Delegation, in collaboration with 21 embassies and cultural institutions of EU member states in Thailand, as well as the Embassy of Ukraine. A few screenings to look out for include: Amadeo (Portugal) – May 15, 7pmA visually rich biographical drama tracing the life of Portuguese modernist painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, whose revolutionary style pushed the boundaries of early 20th-century European art.
