Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol will not meet at ‘Reply 1988' reunion: The latter confirms absence from the event - Here's what we know

The beloved show 'Reply 1988' has managed to garner a lot of fans ever since its release. The cast members of the show have also managed to keep good relations throughout the years, and have shared about how they all reunite every once in a while to catch up and celebrate the success and love that the show got. However, actor Ryu Jun Yeol , who played one of the titular roles in the series, has seemed to opt out of the anniversary meet-up. Ryu Jun Yeol may not be meeting up with the 'Reply 1988' cast The 10th anniversary of the beloved show is coming this November; however, up until now, no updates have been shared about who will be attending the reunion party. Now, in a recently released OSEN report, the reunion has been confirmed and is also being planned by the show's production team. Fans had been questioning whether Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri would join the party or not, given their history. The two co-stars went on to date after the show's success and were together for around 7 years before mutually parting ways. Now, as per the same report, Jun Yeol's agency has replied to the fan speculations promptly. They have confirmed that the actor will not be able to attend the reunion, citing that his filming schedules will be too packed to give space for the event. Jun Yeol will next be seen in the upcoming drama series 'The Rat', which will be filmed in October-November, i.e., the same time that the reunion schedules will be planned. No other comment about the matter has been made by any official sources yet. A group trip will be planned in October, somewhere in Gangnam. This will be done in order to shoot special content for the celebration of the 10th anniversary.

'Reply 1988' turns 10: Will former flames Hyeri and Ryu Jun-yeo reunite at grand event ? Details Inside

Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri in 'Reply 1988' It's been a decade since 'Reply 1988' had us all glued to our screens, crying over unspoken crushes. Now, the drama's family is coming back together for a 10th-anniversary celebration. The event, organised by writer Lee Woo-jung and director Shin Won-ho, is set for October, with a group retreat (MT) planned in the serene landscapes of Gangwon Province. Hyeri confirms attendance; Jun-yeol to skip Fans were crossing their fingers to see Hyeri (our forever Deok-sun) and Ryu Jun-yeol (the unforgettable Jung-hwan) in the same frame again. The two not only played leads in the drama but also became a real-life couple for nearly eight years, a love story almost as iconic as their on-screen romance. However, dreams were dashed when Ryu confirmed he's unable to attend due to shooting the upcoming thriller 'Deuljwi' ('The Rat'). Hyeri, meanwhile, is all set to join the celebration. For long-time fans, this absence is bittersweet, given their much-publicized breakup in November 2023. From beloved couple to social media headlines Hyeri and Ryu's relationship started on set and grew into one of Korea's most-watched celebrity romances. Things ended amicably - or so it seemed - until March 2024, when Ryu briefly dated actress Han So-hee, sparking controversy and public apologies from both sides. The situation left some fans divided, making a joint appearance at this reunion unlikely. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Gorgeous Women, Ranked BigGlobalTravel Undo The cast line-up and why this matters Aside from Hyeri, other favorites like Park Bo-gum, Go Kyung-pyo , and Lee Dong-hwi are expected to show up. The original series, which aired from November 2015 to January 2016, reached peak viewership ratings of 18.8% (Nielsen Korea) - a huge deal in the K-drama world. For context, that's like breaking the 'Sacred Games' buzz in India. For Indian fans who watched the show with subtitles and fell for its warmth, it's a reminder of how universal the themes of friendship, family dinners, and awkward teenage love can be - whether you grew up in 1988 Seoul or 1990s Mumbai.

Reply 1988 plans 10th anniversary trip: Ryu Jun Yeol opts out amid concerns of possible clash with ex-lover Hyeri

Popular slice-of-life K-drama Reply 1988 will mark 10 years since its premiere on November 6, 2025. While talks about the reunion of the cast and crew have been making the rounds for a long time, there was no confirmation from the team's end. That seems to have changed now, as on August 13, an exclusive OSEN report claimed that the production team of the tvN drama, which was written by Lee Woo Jung, directed by Shin Won Ho, is planning a group MT to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its first broadcast. Immediately, questions arose about the participation of ex-flames Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri. The former has reportedly responded, and it seems his schedule might be too packed. Reply 1988 cast to reunite, but will Ryu Jun Yeol join? Here's what we know Egg Is Coming will be helming the plan for the group trip to a certain location in Gangwon-do in October for content on producer Na Young Seok's YouTube, Channel Fullmoon. After learning of the report, they have responded positively, saying that indeed a plan is in progress for the 10th anniversary of the show's release; however, nothing has been finalized so far. The inevitable question about Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri, who dated after first meeting on the show, was discussed widely. After their relationship, which began in 2016 following the airing of the K-drama, ended in November 2023 and was followed by a nasty public exchange of thoughts between Ryu Jun Yeol's new girlfriend, Han So Hee and Hyeri, it seemed unlikely that the two would agree to be in the same space for a long time. In line with the sentiment, the actor who played Kim Jung Hwan in the show will be opting out of the trip. An official from his agency, UAA, shared with the media that due to the daily ongoing filming of The Rat, the actor is very busy at the moment. As such, it would be difficult for the star to attend the Reply 1988 group MT in October. This has pretty much shut down any speculations of a possible reunion between Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri during the trip in October.

Brad Marchand embraces Panthers' rat-throwing tradition, which goes back 30 years

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — There's a giant, gold-outlined rat emblazoned on the hat that dangles in Brad Marchand's locker. The scrappy NHL veteran has been likened to the tiny rodent for much of his career, notoriously known as 'The Rat' among hockey fans for his brash play. So when Marchand was traded from Boston to Florida back in March, it didn't take long for him to embrace Panthers fans' longstanding tradition of tossing plastic rats onto the ice after wins.
