Everyone's favourite animated ogre stomps onto NYU Abu Dhabi stage for 'Shrek the Musical'

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Everyone's favourite ogre is coming to The Red Theater at NYU Abu Dhabi from May 29 to June 1 for "Shrek the Musical."This hilarious and heartwarming adaptation of the popular animated film brings the fairytale misfit story to life on show, featuring the Abu Dhabi Choral Group (ADCG) follows Shrek, a grumpy but lovable ogre, who embarks on a quest to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona from the scheming Lord Farquaad, in exchange for reclaiming his the way, Shrek is joined by a colourful cast of fairytale characters, including his wisecracking sidekick, Donkey. Together, they challenge stereotypes, discover the meaning of friendship, and prove that beauty lies catchy songs and witty humour, Shrek the Musical is great fun for the whole last performed at the NYUAD with their sellout show, "Sister Act: The Musical" in June 2024, marking the community choir's 5th collaborative project with 1977, expatriates and locals alike have found a home in the group, a four-part harmony choir that celebrates Broadway is comprised of men and women (18 years and over) from all over the world, representing 15+ nationalities and languages spoken, with talents ranging from first-time performers to seasoned veterans.
With active membership currently averaging at 40-50 performers per season, this long-standing community theatre group is excited to be part of the new cultural landscape in Abu Dhabi.
