Who is Gracie Abrams' mother, Katie McGrath? She once worked for RFK Jr's uncle, was a ‘proud mum' when her daughter supported Taylor Swift, and runs a film company with her husband, J.J. Abrams
Gracie Abrams is on the rise. The musician has been on tour for her The Secret of Us album, and last year, Abrams joined Taylor Swift for the last leg of her Eras tour, which concluded in December after an epic two-year run. Abrams also opened for the 'Anti-Hero' singer during several of her 2023 shows too. More recently, she's been supporting her boyfriend Paul Mescal at the Cannes Film Festival; the pair wore matching black outfits, though they did not pose for photographs together. 'The bar is very high in my relationships,' she told Cosmopolitan in February. 'It's not appealing to me to not feel settled and seen, so I don't date people who make me feel like that. I would rather be single for the rest of my life than feel uneasy in a relationship.' Advertisement But Gracie Abrams ' trajectory has long been plagued by nepo baby allegations: her father is filmmaker J.J. Abrams and her mother is producer Katie McGrath. 'Obviously we can't control where we are born into, and there are a million visible and even more invisible advantages to having family members who are in any entertainment industry,' the singer told Rolling Stone. 'I know how hard I work, and I know how separate I've kept [my parents] from every conversation about anything careerwise, but of course you can understand what it looks like from the outside.' You might recognise J.J. Abrams for his work on Star Wars and Lost, but who is Katie McGrath, who was a 'proud mum' watching her daughter perform at one of Swift's shows? She was in politics Katie McGrath (right), mother of Gracie Abrams (left), once worked for RFK Jr's uncle, Ted Kennedy. Per People, she started off in Washington as Senator Ted Kennedy's legislative aide before taking on a directorial role at MTV Networks. Along the way, she also founded her own political media company, First Tuesday Media. She now works with her husband Katie McGrath and her husband J.J. Abrams. McGrath, alongside her husband, is co-CEO of Bad Robot Productions, the production house behind several Star Trek films and mega-hit shows including Lost, Person of Interest and Westworld.

Gracie Abrams Is Being Defended After She Was Accused Of Leaving Gifts From Fans At An Arena To Be Thrown Away
People are divided after Gracie Abrams apparently left a bunch of gifts she received from fans during a concert at the venue to be thrown away after the show. For context, 25-year-old Gracie is currently in the middle of her The Secret Of Us tour, and after her performance at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, last week, somebody who worked at the venue shared photos of the pile of stuff that Gracie had seemingly left behind. This included multiple stuffed animals, several scrapbooks and handwritten notes, a T-shirt with messages written on it, a crochet handbag, and a copy of Gracie's own CD. On one of the photos, the worker wrote: 'feel so bad throwing all this out 😭😭' Related: Donald Trump's Apparent Baldness Is Going Viral In A New Photo The pictures soon made their way over to X, and Gracie's fans were quick to express their disappointment. One popular tweet read: 'I would rather Gracie not accept any gifts if she's going to do this cause it hurts more then someone not being able to give it to her.' Somebody else wrote: 'i totally understand gracie can't take everything she gets gifted at shows cause she gets given A LOT but seeing the photos of the left behind stuff with the crocheted gifts and scrapbooks which people probably put a lot of love and effort into does make me a little sad for them.' While another said: 'oh this is sad as fuck.' TikToker @sipteawithmelissa was among the people to defend the star, and she uploaded a video that has been seen over 700k times and racked up 10s of thousands of likes. TikTok @sipteawithmelissa / Via 'I actually think this is really unfair on Gracie Abrams,' she began, pointing out that there are multiple videos online of Gracie appearing "super grateful" as she shares a moment with fans while receiving gifts during her show. 'But this is the level of gifts that she just received at one tour date,' the TikToker pointed out in reference to the photos. 'Imagine all the things she'd accumulate from all her tour dates if she took them with her.' They then speculated that 'all the big singers do the same thing,' concluding: 'It's not a case of being ungrateful. It's just a case of security, being practical, and not being able to take all the stuff with you.' And the vast majority of people agreed in the video's comment section, with one writing: "The people that think celebrities want gifts from them are the problem, not the celebrities.' 'I don't get what fans expect her to do with all that stuff?' another popular comment reads. Somebody else added: 'My honest opinion, the gifts are more for the fans than the artist. I know fans mean well but no singer needs their 50th fan scrapbook, let's be real.' One more echoed: 'People get so mad, you've given her one gift, but collectively she's been given thousands. What on earth is she going to do with all the stuff.' And another suggested: 'Honestly fans should trade things they've made w other fans. Not realistic for an artist to accept every single gift they receive.' BuzzFeed has contacted Gracie's rep for comment. In the meantime, what do you make of the situation? Let me know down below! US singer-songwriter pours heart out to adoring Perth fans
'I'll never forget my first show with you, I love you.' So much love was in the air inside RAC Arena on Friday night where American singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams performed her first headline show in Perth. Our city was also the last stop on her The Secret Of Us tour and the 25-year-old didn't hold back with pouring her heart out. Opening her show with Felt Good About You, the star appeared on stage hidden from the light until she revealed herself and her cute outfit, a beautiful red dress with black bows on the shoulders. Abrams fans — mostly teenage girls in white maxi skirts and pastel colour bows in their hair — showed endless love and support for their idol throughout the entire night — from singing every lyric from some of her older songs to more recent tracks like Us featuring Taylor Swift, Risk and I Love You, I'm Sorry. The intense interactions Abrams had with her fans showed how much they meant to her and she took every opportunity to accept gifts from the crowd. Addressing her thousands-strong crowd, Abrams said it was 'so nice to meet you.' 'This is my first show I've ever done in your city. I can't tell you how much it means thanks so much for being here, camping and waiting outside,' she said. 'It's an honour to know you and to be here.' It was incredible to see an artist have that type of relationship with her fans and actually take time out of her show to spend it more intimately with them. The last part of the concert involved Abrams running through the centre of mosh pit to a second stage that was in fact a bed. Abrams said the bedroom was a replica of her own and was where she spent the early days of her career writing songs and sharing snippets of them on social media. She also took a moment to sing happy birthday to fellow musician and friend, Tucker from Role Model, with the entire arena joining in. Abrams closed her show with two of more well known tunes That's So True and Close To You which had most fans up and dancing and belting out the love songs. Abrams' stunning debut show in Perth was a clear crowd pleaser. From her powerful vocals, to fun visualisers on the LED screens to her musical talent playing guitar and piano, it's no doubt her fan base is only going to grow exponentially. Abrams is definitely one to keep an eye on as it seems she is following in Taylor Swift's footsteps. The verdict: 4 stars Gracie Abrams is set to perform another sold-out show at RAC Arena on Saturday night.
