The 18-year-old — serving 52 years for killing three girls in July — will be allowed out only briefly to shower or to exercise on the yard. A source said: 'They will treat Rudakubana much more severely. It will not be far off Hannibal Lecter because they will take no chances.' Serial killer Lecter, played by Anthony Hopkins, was kept in a maximum- security cell in 1991 film The Silence Of The Lambs. The source said: 'Rudakubana will only be able to open the latch on his side once the officers have shut the box and closed it on their side. "This is a huge deal in UK jails as it is considered it dehumanises inmates. 'He will be let out of his cell only after being searched and escorted by at least five officers, who will be in PPE and could use a dog. "The unit will be locked down each time he is moved.' Investigators fear his attack was a bid to compete with Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi, who scalded four staff at HMP Frankland, Co Durham, weeks earlier. The source said: 'Abedi has just been moved to Belmarsh. The timing is no coincidence.' Rudakubana could now be moved to a prison in the North or to HMP Whitemoor, Cambs. Moment Southport killer storms dance class to murder 3 girls as he's jailed for at least 52 years Yesterday Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said of staff attacks: 'It's a disgrace. There's a crisis in prisons.' The Ministry of Justice said: 'We take attacks on staff incredibly seriously.'

The 63-year-old wrote on Facebook that he received news of her death on May 2, right before he was slated to perform for a concert in the Taiwanese county of Pingtung. Chao said in the May 3 post that he soldiered on with the performance. He wrote: 'Last night, before my Pingtung show, I got a call from my older sister who told me that my dearest mother had passed away. I calmed my emotions, went onstage to finish my set, waved goodbye to my fans, then swiftly took the train back home.' He also said in his tribute: 'My warmest, most loving mother, who always quietly supported my show-business career, thank you for loving and putting up with me. Thank you for your unconditional support. I'll keep singing, so I can be a son you're proud of. My mother was 100 this year, she has lived a full life and is now in heaven to accompany my father. Rest well there, I love you.' In a sombre coincidence, his father died, aged 94, while he was on a concert tour in China in November 2023. Chao said in a tribute post on Facebook to his father then: 'Thank you for loving me so much, for gifting me with a good voice, and for letting me do what I love. Thanks for dedicating your life to giving us a warm home.' The singer is known for Mandopop classics like I'm Not Good Looking But I'm Very Gentle (1988), and the numbers The Silence Of The Lambs and How Could I Tell You That I Love You – which were the opening and ending theme songs respectively to the first instalment of Singaporean drama series The Unbeatables (1993). – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
