Seaside creperie's Gallic flair in charming Anglesey village
It's quite easy to find Mojo's restaurant in Rhosneigr. It's opposite Scarlett's Fish & Chip bar and Gecko, a shop selling beach products and renting out surf boards. You come across it if you've parked in the village and are heading towards the beach. I called in on a sunny Wednesday lunchtime last week. It's been operating for some years and is continuing with its French-themed dishes on its pleasingly diverse menu. You can expect galettes and crepes among the more traditional choices of Chicken club sandwich, Smashed avocado on toast and Rocky Road dessert. The galettes - a pancake made with organic buckwheat flour and served with salad and slaw - include ones with Steak, mushrooms and blue cheese (£13.50) and a Yellow Dot galette with cheese, Welsh ham and a local free range egg yolk. (£12.95). However my heart sank as it seemed busy from the look of the packed, outdoor tables and I worried about getting a seat but almost all the indoor tables were available. I sat there and checked the menu. There's a good range of sandwiches and ciabattas. Steak ciabatta with caramelised onions (£15.95), Halloumi with homemade chilli jam and lettuce ciabatta (£12.50) sounded good, as did the Welsh ham & cheese ciabatta (£11.50). But I liked the idea of a Bloody Mary Prawn open sandwich. It was described as "Atlantic prawns with rustic tomato sauce, mayonnaise, hint of vodka, baby gem lettuce (in a) fresh, multigrain open sandwich." The prawns were lovely and soft, and sprinkled with paprika. The "hint of vodka" may have been there but wasn't noticeable to me, and the lettuce was rocket on this occasion. It was a lovely, well-presented, light meal. There was a nice touch - a warm, grilled lemon which when squeezed over the seafood really gave those prawns some zesty piquancy. The slice of brown bread was fresh. Desserts here include a Canadian pancake Stack with four light and fluffy pancakes for £8. Customers can add a rasher of "streaky bacon" for £2. I was impressed that extra toppings like strawberries and bananas only cost £1 each. The crepes included Rocky Road (£8.50) with chocolate pieces, biscuit, marshmallows and chocolate sauce, and Biscoff (£9.50). This had "clotted cream, ice cream and Biscoff crumble" and I ordered that. The crepe was doughy and warm and came with a sauce and a sprinkling of Biscoff crumbs rather than crumble as such. Personally I would have referred a more conventional, thicker crumble. Checking with the hardworking chef Jeff later he said the sauce was a Biscoff sauce. It was pleasant enough. The vanilla ice cream worked better with the crepe than the what seemed to be whipped cream on my visit, because its sweetness contrasted nicely with the savoury dough. The choice of drinks at the bar includes Brooklyn - The Stonewall Inn IPA, and Birrificio Angelo Poretti lager (4.8pc) aswell as products from The Rhosneigr Gin Company. Mojo's interior is unpretentious. There's a wooden floor with tables and bar made from planks of timber. In keeping with the coastal setting there are prints of a turtle and shell on the wall, and even a bizarre, seaweed, themed lampshade. I'd definitely call in again. Mojo's is a cut above your average seaside eaterie. A visit here sets you up nicely to explore this charming village and Rhosneigr's two beaches Traeth Crigyll and Traeth Llydan. The facts Location: Mojo's restaurant, bar & creperie, 7 Marine Terrace, High Street, Rhosneigr, Anglesey, LL64 5UQ. Tel.: 01407 810737. Open Monday to Wednesday 10am till 4pm, Thursday and Friday 10am till 10pm, Saturday 9.30am till 10pm, Sunday 9.30am till 5pm. Food: Well-presented and tasty with a large, diverse menu Service: Attentive and prompt The bill: Bloody Mary prawn open sandwich (£13) and Biscoff crepe (£9.50), fresh orange (£3), and Americano (£3.60). Total: £29.10. Verdict: Tres bien.

Brooklyn Brewery Launches A New Support Program to Provide Direct Aid to NYC's Trans Community
Brooklyn Brewery Also Named Official Beer and Brewery of NYC Pride 2025, Third Year in a Row BROOKLYN, NY, June 09, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the third consecutive year, Brooklyn Brewery is proud to serve as the Official Beer and Brewery of NYC Pride, with The Stonewall Inn IPA as the official beer of the festivities. While the brewery will be out in full force at the Pride March and other celebrations this June, it's also taking the moment to do something deeper. Instead of spending money on a traditional advertising campaign, Brooklyn Brewery is directing its resources to fund — a new initiative that will provide direct financial assistance to trans, non-binary, and two-spirit New Yorkers throughout the year. To bring the initiative to life, Brooklyn Brewery has partnered with queer Latina activist, actor, and Stonewall Inn Gives Back board member Angelica Christina. Together, they'll distribute $25,000 in direct support to 25 trans, non-binary, or two-spirit New Yorkers — $1,000 each, no strings attached, to help cover basic but critical needs like housing, healthcare, transportation, food and more. Angelica will help select recipients, advocate for their stories, and, when safe and consented to, collaborate with Brooklyn Brewery to amplify their stories throughout the year. 'The trans, nonbinary and 2 spirit community have been under massive attack these past several months,' says Angelica Christina. 'This current administration is intent on eradicating us while further pushing us into poverty. What Brooklyn Brewery seeks to do is offer monetary support during these precarious times. We hope to uplift the voices of our most vulnerable and at risk when it's needed the most. If you or someone you know is in need, please nominate yourself and/or them.' These communities are facing rising levels of state-level discrimination, anti-trans legislation, and outright violence across the country. In New York alone, trans people are experiencing double the unemployment rate of the general population, widespread workplace harassment, and job loss simply due to gender identity. Nationwide, trans individuals are also disproportionately impacted by homelessness, violence, and barriers to healthcare. Brooklyn Brewery Supports responds to these urgent realities with direct financial relief and a platform to elevate community voices and lived experiences throughout the year. Robin Ottaway, President of Brooklyn Brewery explains: 'As attacks on trans rights escalate, we wanted to use our resources to show up with purpose — by supporting people in our own city who are too often pushed to the margins.' This direct aid initiative builds upon Brooklyn Brewery's long standing commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ communities. Since 2017, the brewery has brewed The Stonewall Inn IPA in partnership with The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI), using its platforms and sales to raise both funds and awareness for LGBTQ+ rights. In 2023, Brooklyn Brewery earned Certified Safe Space status through SIGBI, and has since expanded its Create Space initiative to support queer communities across the globe. In 2024, the brewery's Found Family campaign celebrated the bonds of chosen family within LGBTQ+ communities — stories that reflect Brooklyn's own values of solidarity, inclusion, and care. From community partnerships to Pride marches, Brooklyn Brewery's ethos remains clear: support isn't seasonal — it's structural. And in 2025, that support means showing up in a different, more urgent way. launches June 5th, and recipients will be selected on a rolling basis through December 2025. Anyone who identifies as trans, non-binary, or two-spirit, is 21+, and lives in NYC may apply, or be nominated by a friend. Queer Joy Alert: This LEGO Stonewall set will make your gay childhood dreams come true
Queer joy is a radical act, so join us each week for more stories that uplift, resist, and shine. For more stories on Queer Joy, click here. In the decades since the Stonewall Uprising, LGBTQ+ people have fought hard for things like the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, overturning Lawrence v. Texas, and winning marriage equality. But it was that first radical act on Christopher Street that started a social and political movement that continues to this day. And yet despite Stonewall's incredible influence on the gay rights movement, many people fail to remember it or understand its importance, but one queer man is seeking to change that one LEGO brick at a time. As part of an ongoing contest held by LEGO, Flavio, an Italian artist who uses the colorful brick as his canvas, created a set that would allow people to build their own version of the Stonewall Inn. 'I decided to pay tribute to an iconic place for LGBTQIA+ people and for everyone who shares these values, no matter their identity,' Flavio tells PRIDE. "It felt natural to choose the Stonewall National Monument, because The Stonewall Inn, Christopher Street, and Christopher Park are powerful symbols of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement. They also represent the long journey the world still needs to take toward equality, a journey that began years ago, but still needs all our support.' See on Instagram Now, Flavio, who uses the name Feacebricks for all of his LEGO creations, is anxiously waiting for the results of the LEGO Ideas challenge, where fan-designed projects become future sets that will be sold to the public based on fan votes and comments. Flavio believes that the Stonewall Uprising should be known by everyone and is hopeful that if his set is mass-produced, more people will learn about this important part of queer history. 'If this set were produced, copies of it would enter hundreds of thousands of homes worldwide,' he says. 'The story of Stonewall could then be remembered by those who already know it, and discovered and taught to many others who don't.' The Stonewall Inn set isn't the only LGBTQ+-centric LEGO set Flavio has created. He has also designed a 'Lavender Nursery,' a greenhouse with a flower shop next door owned by a trans woman, and a Heartstopper set that pays tribute to the popular Netflix queer teen drama based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman. Courtesy of Feacebricks Heartstopper LEGO set. 'I strongly believe that LGBTQIA+ visibility in everyday life and in the media is essential for the development of civil society and the well-being of young people,' Flavio explains. 'Visibility is the main path to spreading culture and awareness about respect for different sexual orientations and gender identities.' While LEGO sets may seem like just a way to have fun, Flavio believes his Stonewall set could have 'a real impact' because it is a way to 'spread representation, culture, civil values, smiles, and open, constructive dialogue.' And his set has already made a difference to people who have seen his concept art on the LEGO Ideas website. 'This, now more than ever, is so important,' someone commented on the website. 'LEGO has always supported love and life in all its forms, and having this as an official set would send a huge message to the world: we are here and we are queer!' Another person wrote that 'boys' toys' like LEGO were an 'important part of my trans identity' and that 'seeing my identity and one of the major moments of the LGBT rights movement be represented in Lego would mean a lot to me, and I would buy this in an instant.' More than the art of designing the sets themselves, it's responses like this that make Flavio happy. 'So many LGBTQIA+ people and families have written in the comments section of the project page saying they finally feel seen and represented. That moves me deeply,' he says.
