Tina Turner tribute star visits PCAKK ahead of charity concert

KOTA KINABALU (Aug 7): The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) welcomed internationally recognised Tina Turner tribute artiste Rebecca O'Connor to its centre on Thursday, ahead of her headline performance at PCAKK's 26th Annual Charity Dinner and Concert.
This year's event, themed 'Heart of Gold', will take place on August 8 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), beginning at 6.30pm.
The annual fundraiser aims to raise awareness and funds to support PCAKK's free palliative care services in Kota Kinabalu and surrounding areas.
During her visit, Rebecca spent time with patients, caregivers, volunteers and staff, expressing her honour in being able to sing for those 'walking the final, most tender chapter of life's journey.'
'I hope through music I can bring a moment of peace, love and presence — a small offering from the heart to comfort theirs,' she said.
Also present were the winners of the 2025 State-Level Unduk Ngadau pageant, who showed their support for PCAKK's mission.
The event will be officiated by Sabah Head of State, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Musa Aman, and his wife, Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Faridah Tussin — both long-time supporters of PCAKK.
In addition to Rebecca's performance, local talents The String Trio, Zara Flintoft and Rene Barrow will also be performing.
Founded in 1995, PCAKK has provided free home-based palliative care to more than 5,200 patients with cancer, organ failure, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, stroke-related conditions and other serious illnesses.
The association also supports children with life-limiting conditions and offers emotional and practical support to their families.
