Having earned a six-minute standing ovation at Cannes last year, Nicolas Cage stars in The Surfer, with 99 minutes of psychological terror promised.
A man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. When he is humiliated by a group of locals, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising and pushes him to his breaking point.
It's directed by Ireland's Lorcan Finnegan, who helmed the 2019 suburban nightmare of Vivarium.

A documentary on the killing in the US of Limerick man Jason Corbett. It includes contributions from his teenage children, Jack and Sarah,and the two people jailed for his manslaughter – Corbett's American wife Molly Martens, and her father Thomas Martens.

Poetry: Cork International Poetry Festival

Running in various guises since 1993, Cork International Poetry Festival is presented by Munster Literature Centre.
It's a slimmer version this year — its website laments 'deficiencies in budget and time-slots' — but still features manuscript workshops and masterclasses by the likes of Patrick Cotter and readings by Frank McGuinness, Jennifer Horgan, Maurice Riordan, and lots more across the week.
Concert: Mike Garry & The Cassia String Quartet

Following a number of sold out shows across Ireland as special guest to John Cooper Clarke, Mike Garry returns to Cork to headline his own show, accompanied by the Cassia String Quartet.
Having collaborated with the likes of New Order, Philip Glass, and most recently Orbital and David Holmes, Garry released debut album Handwritten Miracles in 2023. Expect a soundscape that is unique and truly special.
