Tyrese Maxey reacts to Sixers losing Guerschon Yabusele to Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their first loss of the free agency period on Tuesday when Guerschon Yabusele left for the New York Knicks for a reported two years and $12 million. Yabusele averaged 11.0 rebounds, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists and was a big help for Philadelphia in 70 games. After a short stint with the Boston Celtics, Yabusele went back overseas for five seasons before landing with the Sixers. He proved to be a steal as he was available and played a lot of different roles for Philadelphia as both a center and a power forward on a nightly basis. Losing him is a tough loss for the Sixers. Tyrese Maxey hopped on "The Takeoff Podcast with John Clark" and gave his thoughts on losing Yabusele: Yeah, it's tough. He just sent me a text talking about how they going to beat us four times. and, you know, I told him that I'll make sure that I call him up for a couple of ball screens, get a switch on him, and score a couple buckets on him, make sure that we beat them. but I love Yabu. I'm extremely happy for him, happy for his family. I'm glad that he's back over here in the league playing. I think he did a great job of advertising himself. He played a lot of different hats. It was definitely a tough year for us, but he was still consistent. He went out there every single night, and played his tail off so I really do appreciate Yabu, and he has a long-time friendship in me. Maxey and Yabusele will certainly be able to renew their trash-talking when the season begins in October. The two rivals will meet four times so it will give them a chance to catch up and go toe-to-toe after playing on the same side in 2024-25.
