Bucs' Calijah Kancey returns to Pitt during the offseason

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their players have been very busy this offseason. From Pro Bowls to NFL Honors, they have been all over and visible in a variety of ways. For some players, though, this offseason has been nothing but focusing on building towards a successful 2025 season, and that includes Calijah Kancey. The former Bucs first-round pick in 2023, Kancey is coming off a 2024 season that saw him come out of the gates slow due to injury. However, he ended the season on a tear, finishing with 7.5 sacks, up from his 4.5 during his rookie season, and he achieved that with fewer games played. Kancey posted on social media that he was back at Pittsburgh, where he attended college and worked out in the team's facility. This was a common practice of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald. #H2P — Calijah Kancey (@Ckancey8) March 13, 2025 Kancey will be pivotal to the Bucs success in 2025. Todd Bowles has shown that he can develop defensive linemen over the length of his career and the former Pitt Panther is proving to be no different. New Bucs OC Josh Grizzard is 'fired up' for new role with the team

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have become well-versed in replacing offensive coordinators over the last three years. This offseason marked the third time they have had to do so in as many years. On Thursday, the Bucs new offensive coordinator, Josh Grizzard, met with the press when he was introduced, and fans should be excited. Grizzard spoke with the media after Todd Bowles named him his new offensive coordinator. The Yale graduate made it clear to everyone that he has the same energy as his quarterback, Baker Mayfield. 'I'm fired up. You guys know the foundation that's in place… We're trying to take it to the next level [and] try to bring a championship back to Tampa. I'm fired up to be here and to try to lead this unit down the road.' You can tell, even just by reading the words, that his energy is going to be great for this offense. It explains why players like Mayfield, Mike Evans, and Tristan Wirfs were excited when talking about him at the Pro Bowl. Luckily for Grizzard, he will have most, if not all, of the offense back in 2025. The lone question surrounds Chris Godwin and his looming free agency.

Bucs hire former Texas Longhorns HC as defensive line coach

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went big-name fishing to replace Kacy Rodgers, who left for the Detroit Lions. They chose a name familiar to the Tampa Bay area and with experience coaching at the top level of football. Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times reported on Wednesday night that the team was hiring Charlie Strong as their new defensive line coach. Strong is know for being a college head coach with the Texas Longhorns, Louisville Cardinals, and USF Bulls. He has a head coaching record of 70-49, but his best work may have come as an assistant. He has two National Championships in those roles and has been coaching since 1983. Strong has NFL experience coaching with Urban Meyer at the Jacksonville Jaguars as their assistant head coach inside linebacker coach. Strong was a defensive line coach before during a stint at Notre Dame, where he held the job from 1995 to 1998. He coached four Fighting Irish defensive linemen into NFL players during his time there. Strong now returns to Tampa Bay with a defensive line headlined by Vita Vea and Calijah Kancey, and expectations to improve others in the position group as well.
