Several Black Sabbath Classics Climb To All-Time New Peak Positions

The past few weeks on the United Kingdom's music charts have been some of Black Sabbath's biggest in recent memory, though only for a heartbreaking reason. Following the death of Ozzy Osbourne in July, millions of fans have revisited his catalog, especially the music he made with the band that launched his career. Even weeks following the sad news, Black Sabbath is still dominating, and several of the group's albums climb to new peaks decades after they were first released. The Eternal Idol Reaches New Highs The Eternal Idol appears on three U.K. tallies this frame, and earns new personal bests on two of them. The set rises to No. 60 on the Official Albums Sales chart and to No. 61 on the Official Physical Albums ranking. On the Official Rock & Metal Albums roster, it returns at No. 13 — just one spot shy of its all-time peak. A Late Debut Finds New Momentum Originally released in 1987, The Eternal Idol didn't debut on the three charts until April of this year. This frame marks only its second on each list, amazingly, but it may not be the final stint for the title. The Ultimate Collection Earns Multiple New Peaks The Ultimate Collection also celebrates hitting new highs on two rankings. The career-spanning compilation improves to No. 14 on the Official Albums chart and to No. 13 on the Official Albums Streaming tally. The set has never soared so high on either roster. Matching Its Best Placement on the Download List The same set also matches its all-time high of No. 21 on the Official Album Downloads chart. The Ultimate Collection also continues to land in lofty spots on a variety of other tallies in the U.K., including the rock-only list, where it recently passed two full years. Other Black Sabbath Albums Also Grow Several other Black Sabbath projects hit new highs on a single chart apiece this frame. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath lifts to No. 63 on the Official Album Downloads chart, Black Sabbath improves to No. 22 on the same list, and Paranoid climbs to a new best of No. 60 on the Official Albums Streaming ranking.

Whitney Houston Proves Her Timeless Appeal As Several Albums Return

Whitney Houston remains one of the greatest singers of all time, and decades after she first topped charts around the world and years after her passing, her voice continues to connect with millions of people. In the United Kingdom, her legacy is so powerful to this day that one compilation of her hits simply isn't enough. Several different collections of her biggest singles find space on the charts from time to time, and this week, a pair of titles make their way back to one ranking, while another long-running best-of continues to climb. Two Compilations Return to the Downloads Chart Both The Greatest Hits and The Ultimate Collection reenter the Official Album Downloads chart this frame. The Greatest Hits comes back at No. 48, while The Ultimate Collection returns at No. 59. It's a rare accomplishment for an artist to see two separate compilations return to the same chart at the same time, but Houston has managed it more than once over the years. Chart Histories for the Returning Titles Of the two returning favorites, The Ultimate Collection is the more established. The set has now spent 130 weeks on the Official Album Downloads chart and climbed as high as No. 2. The Greatest Hits is a more recent addition to her catalog by comparison, as it has only appeared on the downloads ranking for a total of 16 weeks so far. It has already reached the top five, where it peaked at No. 4. I Will Always Love You – The Best Of Houston's I Will Always Love You – The Best Of also enjoys a positive moment on the U.K. charts. The title rises to No. 62 on the Official Albums ranking and improves to No. 44 on the Official Albums Streaming tally. On both of those rosters, Houston's compilation climbs from where it was positioned last frame. A Long-Running Success Story While The Greatest Hits and The Ultimate Collection have both reached the top 10 on their respective charts, I Will Always Love You – The Best Of has never climbed into that loftiest space on either of the two tallies it currently inhabits. Even though it's never soared into the top 10, the compilation stands out thanks to its staying power, as the project has racked up more than 200 stays on the two tallies.

Black Sabbath Blocked From An Important New No. 1

Black Sabbath's Paranoid climbs to No. 2 on the U.K.'s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, following ... More Ozzy Osbourne's death and a surge in fan consumption. Singer Ozzy Osbourne of the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath performs in 1974 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Michael) Following the death of Ozzy Osbourne earlier this month, fans of the heavy metal legend have demonstrated their grief by turning to streaming platforms and download storefronts to consume everything he left behind. That includes his solo work as well as the music he made as a member of Black Sabbath. That band, which recently played its final gig in Birmingham, England, sees multiple albums and songs soar on the charts in the United Kingdom. The group nearly scores a brand new No. 1 full-length, though it is blocked by an exciting new arrival. Paranoid Almost Hits No. 1 for the First Time Paranoid jumps to the runner-up spot on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart this week. The project rockets from No. 14 to No. 2 in its two-hundred-and-thirty-sixth week on the ranking of the bestselling collections in those styles. Paranoid reaches its new high point this frame as it vaults up the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. The set almost claims the top spot, but British band Panic Shack keeps the pioneering group from reaching the summit during a very meaningful time. Panic Shack's debut full-length, a self-titled affair, opens at No. 1 this week. A Hit Decades in the Making Black Sabbath debuted Paranoid on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart in March 2002. The full-length was originally shared with the public in September 1970, so when it opened in ninth place more than three decades later, it was clear that Black Sabbath's popularity was still strong. Throughout its lifetime, Paranoid has spent 14 weeks inside the top 10. It even managed to appear inside the competitive space earlier this month, when it rose thanks to all the excitement around Black Sabbath's final performance. Black Sabbath Scores Multiple Top 10 Bestsellers Black Sabbath dominates the Official Rock & Metal Albums ranking at the moment, even though the group doesn't sit at No. 1. The outfit claims the Nos. 2 and 3 spots with Paranoid and The Ultimate Collection, respectively — both of which reach new best showings. Black Sabbath fills a total of seven spaces on the 40-spot roster, including a trio of top 10s.

Ozzy Osbourne's music re-enters British music charts

The back catalogue of Ozzy Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath has surged in Britain's charts following the rockstar's death. Black Sabbath's signature song "Paranoid," a number four hit in 1970, has returned to the Top 40 (at number 32) for the first time in nearly 45 years, the Official Charts Company said. Osbourne, 76, died on Tuesday, and Black Sabbath's "The Ultimate Collection" returned to the album chart, climbing 129 places to number 22. It is one of six Black Sabbath and Osbourne releases inside this week's wider top 200, with Black Sabbath's 1970 album "Paranoid" at number 52, Osbourne's 2014 hits collection "Memoirs of a Madman" at 60, his "Prince of Darkness" at 71, and Sabbath's "Mob Rules" at number 107. Meanwhile, US singer Justin Bieber has achieved his eighth UK number one single with "Daisies" – his first number one in six years. Last week's number one, "Dior" by producer MK, known as Marc Kinchen, featuring singer-songwriter Chrystal, slips to second place, while US singer Alex Warren scores the highest new entry with "Eternity" at number three. Netflix musical movie "KPop Demon Hunters" continues to make an impact by placing three songs in the top 20. "Golden" by HUNTR/X, EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, and REI AMI leads the way at number four. US singer Sabrina Carpenter takes fifth place with her chart-topper "Manchild." Meanwhile, Oasis continues to dominate the charts as they play their reunion gigs in the UK. "Wonderwall," released in 1995, has re-entered the singles chart at number 27, joining other anthems "Don't Look Back in Anger" at 22 and "Live Forever" at 23. And they also have three albums in the top five: "Time Flies 1994–2009" at number three, "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" at four, and "Definitely Maybe" in fifth place.
