Over 10 UK charities to run in Glasgow for Gaza support
Led by The Well Foundation, the initiative will feature Islamic Relief, World Care Foundation, Muslim Charity, Sadco Foundation, Unity, SPMA, HIYA, Wheels to Heels, Sarwar Foundation, Mearns Cycle Group, and Glasgow Ansar. Boss Pizza and the Asian Business Chamber are the official sponsors of the event, with Oceanic Media as the official media partner. "It's about solidarity, raising awareness, and showing Gaza that people thousands of miles away care deeply and are ready to act." The participants will set off at 8am on Sunday, October 5, and registration costs £39 - although financial assistance will be available for those unable to pay. Participants are encouraged to set their estimated finish time to 1 hour and 1 minute so they can start as a united group. The campaign will feature a single JustGiving page, where participants can donate. There will also be walking groups and a dedicated 'sisters' group for those unable to run but still want to participate. A representative from Unity said: "The power of collective action can't be overstated. "This campaign isn't about one organisation or one individual. "It's about humanity, unity, and compassion in action." The Great Scottish Run is one of Scotland's most iconic road races, attracting thousands of runners from around the country every year.

A joint crowdfunding appeal has been launched ahead of the annual 10K race, with a target set for £5000. 'The power of collective action can't be overstated', a spokesperson from Unity said. 'This campaign isn't about one organisation or one individual. It's about humanity, unity and compassion in action.' Other businesses joining the fundraising effort include the Sarwar Foundation, Glasgow Ansar, Wheels to Heels and the Muslim Charity. A WhatsApp group has been set up for those who wish to join the campaign, offering access to T-shirts, updates and support. The 2025 Great Scottish Run will be held on October 5, starting at 8am. A £39 registration fee is in place, though financial assistance is available for those unable to pay. Those wishing to donate to the fundraiser can do so here.

Awards company pledged £100,000 for Bellshill charity
Oceanic Awards, which hosts over 150 award ceremonies every year, has pledged to raise the funds for The Well Foundation over the next two years. The Well Foundation is a volunteer-led charity based in Bellshill, which is committed to community development. Read more: Glasgow man raises more than £65,000 for UK veterans They recently launched the Well Foundation Sports Academy, a community sports initiative aimed at getting children and young people from deprived backgrounds involved in sport. As part of its pledge, Oceanic Awards will collect donations for The Well Foundation at all of its Scotland-based award ceremonies, including the Scottish Curry Awards, Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards, and the Scottish Women's Awards. The Well Foundation is a volunteer-led charity based in Bellshill (Image: Supplied) Irfan Younis, founder of Oceanic Awards, said: "It's a pleasure for us to continue working with The Well Foundation. "Their work has a real, visible impact, not just overseas, but right here in our communities and that is our focus for the next two years. Oceanic Awards has raised close to £1 million for charity over the last 17 years by partnering with charities such as Make a Wish UK, Make a Wish Ireland, Penny Appeal, and World Care Foundation. For the next two years, the Well Foundation will be Oceanic Awards' main charity partner. They will arrange various activities to raise funds and awareness for charity and the work that it does.
