Cumbrian Wetherspoons set to host 12-day beer festival
A 12-day beer festival is set to be held at five Wetherspoon pubs in Cumbria.
The festival will run from Wednesday, March 5, to Sunday, March 16, and will feature up to 30 real ales, including five from international brewers.
The overseas brewers, all female, are from Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.
The international beers are Hey Pal, from Terrapin Brewery in the USA, Estuary Session Ale, from Land & Sea Brewery in Canada and Wallaby, from Penny Red Brewery in Australia.
There's also Chocolate Porta, from Birra Perugia Brewery in Italy, and Antipodean, from Brew Moon Brewery in New Zealand.
Beers will be priced from £1.99 to £2.15 a pint.
The festival line-up also includes Alpha Female (Rooster's), Loopy Loo (Batemans), Chase the Sun (Vale), Cherry Nice (Greene King), Queen of Hearts (St Austell), Mocha Porter (Elgood's), Grand Union (Hook Norton), and Blossom (Black Sheep).
Participating pubs are The Woodrow Wilson and The William Rufus, both in Botchergate, Carlisle, as well as The Bransty Arch in Bransty Row, Whitehaven, The Henry Bessemer in New Oxford Street, Workington, and The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in Bank Street, Keswick.
Daryl Morrison , The Woodrow Wilson manager said: "The festival is a great celebration of real ale.
"It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, featuring beers not previously available to our customers in the pub, including those from brewers as far afield as Australia and New Zealand, as well as those closer to home, over a 12-day period.
"All of the beers will be available at great value-for-money prices."
The beers on sale in the festival have not previously been available at the pubs,
Several of the beers have been brewed for the first time specifically for the festival.
The selection includes vegan beers, which are also suitable for vegetarians.
Visitors can purchase three third-of-a-pint tasters for the price of a pint.
