Iconic watchmaking House Jacob & Co makes debut in KL's SHH boutique
Jacob & Co's watches on display at SHH. — KAMARUL ARIFFIN/The Star Renowned for redefining the boundaries of high watchmaking, Jacob & Co is now officially available at the SHH (Sincere Haute Horlogerie) boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. To celebrate this momentous occasion, 'The World Is Yours' exhibition was held at the mall recently to introduce the iconic watchmaking House to guests and give collectors a more in-depth look. A true pillar of high horology, the exhibition showcased Jacob & Co's 2025 novelties alongside its most iconic masterpieces, offering guests a compelling glimpse into the Maison's distinctive universe. A key highlight from the exhibition that immediately drew admiration from collectors was the groundbreaking Astronomia Revolution Four-Axis Tourbillon. This 2025 novelty represents a world-first high complication, choreographing the tourbillon's motion at three precise speeds: 60 seconds, 18 seconds and 15 seconds. Complementing the exclusive showcase were notable masterpieces from the brand, including the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Baguette, Brilliant Baguette Rainbow, Caviar Tourbillon, Fleurs de Jardin, and Mystery Tourbillon – each exemplifying the brand's unmatched mastery in horological excellence. Each is an outstanding display of artistic brilliance, adorned with an array of gemstones that elevate the timekeeping function of these exceptional statement timepieces. Each timepiece is a testament to the visionary spirit of founder Jacob Arabo, brought to life through exceptional craftsmanship and technical ingenuity. High jewellery meets high horology In 2019, Bugatti Automobiles and Jacob & Co entered into a partnership agreement, based on a shared focus on extreme luxury, mechanical performance and craft. Bugatti Calandre. Both brands have been working hand in hand, at the highest level, to create unrivaled hypercar-inspired timepieces. This shared mindset led to the creation of the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon in 2020 and the Bugatti Tourbillon in 2024, exceptional timepieces inspired by extraordinary sports cars. Today, Jacob & Co and Bugatti have taken their collaboration in a new direction with a new watchmaking format, an exquisite table clock crafted with French crystal maker Lalique. The Bugatti Calandre is a combination of design and historic traits from all three brands, that took three years to complete. The Bugatti Calandre is primarily designed by Jacob & Co, with the luxury brand translating a century of iconic design cues from Bugatti into an intricate timepiece. Lalique crafted the crystal case that helped in translating this tribute to past generations of Bugatti's artistry as well as the visionary future of the iconic automotive brand. Jacob & Co. unveils first World Is Yours Salman Khan watch
Jacob & Co., the globally renowned high jewellery, high watchmaking brand, has launched a limited limited edition in 'The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone' collection, created in collaboration with superstar, philanthropist, icon of Indian cinema and friend of the brand, Salman Khan. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Salman Khan is an exclusive timepiece in a tribute to heritage, family bonds, and the spirit of global connection, said Jacobs in a statement. A deep friendship and shared father-son story Salman Khan and Jacob & Co. Founder and Chairman Jacob Arabo have been great friends, with Khan regularly seen wearing Jacob & Co. timepieces such as the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Their bond deepened when Khan learned that The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone was inspired by a watch Jacob's father gifted him as a symbol of time's significance and the importance of realizing your unlimited potential, said the top watchmaking brand. Drawing inspiration from the shared story, the two visionaries came together to conceptualise a timepiece that would honour Khan's own father, legendary Indian cinema screenplay writer Salim Khan, it added. A unique movement for global travellers In addition to featuring a domed, three-dimensional dial that resembles a globe, The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone is uniquely engineered for global travellers, featuring an independently adjustable dual time zone complication - a rarity in fine watchmaking. Unlike traditional dual-time watches, this innovation allows for fully independent hour and minute setting, making it especially useful for time zones with non-standard differences, such as India's GMT +5:30 offset, said Jacobs in a statement. The individually-numbered, limited edition timepiece features design elements that pay homage to India's rich heritage. The saffron and green accents are inspired by the vibrant colors of the Indian flag, while the laser-engraved world map and 'Salman Khan' inscription on the case back signify his global influence and status as a style icon. The actor's initials 'S.K.' also appear on the lower dial in the 6'o clock position. The special edition timepiece features a custom box from Jacob & Co. rendered in Salman Khan's favorite shade of turquoise, mirroring his iconic turquoise bracelet, a piece he never goes without. Honoring bonds and heritage Salman Khan, expressing his excitement and personal connection to the piece, said: "Time connects us across generations. When I learned Jacob's story, I knew I wanted to create a timepiece that honoured my father's role in my life. 'The World Is Yours' is more than a watch - it's a symbol of family, legacy, and the moments that shape us."

Nas in Abu Dhabi, a major hip-hop moment… BRED Abu Dhabi is back, and it's about to take over Yas Island from April 23-27 with a whole week of music, culture, streetwear, and everything in between. This year, the festival is centered around an all-star line-up, but it's Nas who's making the biggest splash. He's one of the most influential artists in hip-hop, and he's taking centre stage on Friday, April 25. Nas in Abu Dhabi is going to be a masterclass in storytelling, beats, and everything that makes Nas a living legend, and we're here for it. Nas, the icon who defined Hip-Hop If you're into hip-hop, Nas is a name you know. His debut album Illmatic (1994) is a classic, and its tracks – like 'N.Y. State of Mind' and 'The World Is Yours' – are etched into hip-hop history.
