'Guitar Man': Everything We Know About The Late Kim Saeron's Upcoming Posthumous Film

Earlier this year, the Korean entertainment industry was shaken by the tragic news of actress Kim Saeron (김새론) 's death at just 24 years old. The tragedy was soon followed by a major controversy involving actor Kim Soohyun, who was alleged to have dated the actress when she was underage. Since then, Saeron's family and Kim Soohyun's agency have been locked in an ongoing legal dispute, issuing a series of statements in response to one another. Although the actress had not been active for some time prior to her death, she had been planning a comeback and had completed work on two films, one of which, 'Guitar Man', will mark her first posthumous release. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming film: 1. The film will premiere on 31st May According to several reports, a press screening of 'Guitar Man' was held on 21st May (Wednesday), three months after Kim Saeron's passing. The official release is scheduled for later this month, on 31st May. 'Guitar Man' is a musical story about a genius guitarist's loss, love, and journey as he seeks hope through music amid harsh realities. 2. Kim Saeron was almost not cast for the film Due to unresolved matters, director Lee Seon-jeong, who is also the star of the film, was advised not to cast Kim Saeron, as it could have potentially led to the film never being released. However, during a press conference, Seon-jeong recalled the moment he met up with the actress who showed passion and enthusiasm for the project. 'She came prepared, having thoroughly reviewed the script, saying she wanted to suggest changes, asking when we could practice together. I thought it was so great,' he said. 3. Kim Saeron was supposed to sing a song in the film Lee Seon-jeong revealed that they originally planned to have Kim Saeron, who plays a keyboardist named Yujin, sing a song titled 'Dugeundugeun' during a band performance scene. 'Originally, we planned for her to sing together, and we even rehearsed the vocals. I feel saddened that we couldn't get to that point together,' he told reporters. 4. The theme song 'The World Without Pain' has already been released In support of the musical film, the song 'The World Without Pain' was released in late April. The accompanying music video features scenes from the upcoming film, with Kim Saeron appearing in most of them. This also marks the actress's first posthumous appearance in a music video. 5. All profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated In a heartwarming gesture and tribute to the late actress, all profits from the 'Guitar Man' OST will be donated to the Korean Life Respect Hope Centre. This charitable contribution underscores the film's commitment to spreading kindness and supporting those in need, while also reflecting the themes of love woven throughout the narrative.
