The awful pictures of a Newport breeder's puppy ear cropping
Moheiz Adam, 38, of Cromwell Road, Newport, pleaded guilty to four offences of carrying out a prohibited procedure, four charges of causing unnecessary suffering and one fraud offence of possessing canine passports.
He caused suffering to a number of puppies through the act of 'cropping' their ears.
Cropping of dogs' ears is illegal in the UK. It causes pain, trauma and potential future health problems for the animals.

A specialist regional trading standards team, Operation Cabal, launched its own investigation some months later and found social media adverts for Sons of Adam, operated by Adam, showing images of dogs with cropped ears.
Eleven dogs were taken from Moheiz's home in total (Image: Newport City Council) Trading standards officers, in partnership with Gwent Police, raided his home and they took away seven American bully puppies and an adult French bulldog because of the poor environmental conditions they were kept in.
Three other dogs, two adult male American bullies and a puppy with cropped ears, were also taken away. Moheiz claimed they had been imported but they did not have the required legal documentation.

Seven false canine passports were found in a search. These passports were blank, ready to be supplied with information on dogs so new owners could falsely claim the animals had been imported with their ears cropped.

Photos of a dog called Abel were discovered – one with intact ears and one with jagged mutilated ears. Evidence showed that Abel had been bred by Moheiz, which suggests the dog's ears were cropped while in his care.

He was ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work and complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Moheiz was disqualified from keeping animals for 15 years.
He will have to pay £2,000 towards the prosecution costs.
