WATCH: Union marchers hand over list of grievances to City of uMhlathuze
A peaceful protest by hundreds of South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) members went off without any incidents today (Tuesday) when the mass group held a peaceful march from the ZCBF grounds to the City of uMhlathuze offices in Richards Bay.
This follows Samwu's recent warning that they would have no choice but to embark on industrial action to defend members' rights, dignity and safety if their concerns were not attended to.

The march culminated in the handing over of a memorandum of grievances, which was received by uMhlathuze COO Thembeka Khumalo.
The municipality was given until Friday at 4pm to respond.
Grievances raised include safety and security pertaining to employees, PPE requirements not being met, unfair labour practices, filling of vacant positions, and overtime payments.
