Man dead after being struck by a car in North Peoria
A Gray 2000 Volvo driven by a 19-year-old Springfield man was on Allen Road when the victim, a 44-year-old man, tried to cross the road. The car struck the man and killed him, the state police said.
Despite treatment by paramedics at the scene, he died at the scene, Harwood said.
Preliminary autopsy findings indicated Connor suffered severe multiple blunt force trauma injuries and broken bones that were not compatible with life. He likely died instantly, the coroner said.
As required by Illinois law, toxicology testing is under way and those results are pending.
It wasn't immediately clear if the Springfield driver was facing any citations or charges.
