Jessica Simpson Debuts New Single and Hair Color on ‘American Idol'
Sorry, the old Jessica Simpson can't come to the phone right now. Why? Because she's too busy ditching her signature light blonde hair and promoting her brand new music. Jessica showed off her new dirty blonde hair during an appearance on American Idol, which also marked her first televised performance in 15 years. Jessica fans, we are so back. The singer is slowly making her comeback after over a decade spent away from the music industry. She dropped her EP, Nashville Canyon, Part 1, in late March in the wake of her split from Eric Johnson, her husband of 10 years, and is currently deep in album promotion. So naturally, she had to make a stop at the American Idol season 23 finale on Sunday. Jessica gave her first TV performance of 'Blame Me,' a new breakup track off her EP, and then invited season 23 contestant Josh King to perform a duet of 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin',' a Jessica Simpson classic. Of course, 'These Boots are Made for Walking' was technically originally recorded by Nancy Sinatra in 1966, but I think all millennials can agree that Jessica made the song her own when she covered it for 2005 Dukes of Hazzard In addition to delivering her first television performance in over a decade, Jessica also debuted a brand new look. Perhaps to mark the beginning of her new country era, Jessica traded in her bright blonde for a more subdued dirty blonde look. The color was developed by Rita Hazan, who told People that the color, which took two hours to perfect, was meant to be a 'more natural' blonde that was like 'a kid on the beach.' Dying to recreate the look at home? Rita says she used Glaze's Supergloss in Vanilla Lights to tone down brassiness and give Jessica's hair a glossy finish. 'It delivers a rich, shiny payoff, and a silky polished finish that leaves hair looking refreshed and healthier after just one use,' Rita added. Jessica reportedly loved her new look, and I can't say I blame her. What better way to celebrate her music comeback?

Watch Jessica Simpson perform on TV for the 1st time in 15 years during ‘American Idol' finale
Welcome back, Jessica Simpson! The singer delivered her first TV performance in 15 years during the season finale of 'American Idol' on May 18. She sang her new track 'Blame Me,' before teaming with one of this season's 'Idol' contestants, Josh King, on 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin',' which she recorded in 2005. That song, of course, is a cover of Nancy Sinatra's 1966 hit. Decked out in a glitzy gold dress cut high on the left thigh and showing off dirty blond hair, the mother of three performed her new music for nearly a minute and a half before welcoming King to the stage and switching things up with the more upbeat 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin.'' After the finale, Simpson spoke about her return to performing on TV. 'That's a really long time,' she told 'Extra' after the episode aired. Fans on YouTube watching Simpson perform were happy to see her onstage again. 'I can tell how much she loves her new music, the soul and emotions are shining bright!' one person gushed. 'She did great!!! She was off the rails in a good way!!' raved someone else. 'Wow! She's unrecognizable. But, she sounded great!' another person commented. 'So good to have u back Jessica,' wrote another fan. Simpson's version of 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin'' climbed to No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was featured on the soundtrack for the film adaptation of 'The Dukes of Hazzard.' Simpson also starred in the film as Daisy Duke.

Jessica Simpson returns to live TV for first time in 15 years to help crown new American Idol
Jessica Simpson made her triumphant return to live TV for the first time in 15 years on the season 23 finale of American Idol. During Sunday's three-hour episode, the 44-year-old singer and actor gave two special performances; first of her new song 'Blame You' followed by her hit 2005 cover of Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.' She duetted the latter with former American Idol contestant Josh King, who had been eliminated weeks earlier. Hours before her surprise guest appearance, Simpson shared a clip on Instagram of her entering her on-set trailer, writing: 'American Idol Rehearsal.' Simpson's return to live TV comes months after she released her first new music since her 2010 album, Happy Christmas. Titled Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, the EP consists of five songs, including 'Blame You.' Following its March release, the reality TV star performed her first concert in 15 years at the Luck Reunion music festival in Spicewood, Texas. She explained at the time that her long-awaited return to music was inspired by her ongoing divorce from Eric Johnson. 'I was in a very intuitive state and I had asked some very personal questions on the home front and I found out that my world had been turned upside down and that life was now very different,' she told the festival crowd. 'You know, when we open our hearts, sometimes we're vulnerable and it just gets broken and maybe sometimes we forget that we've been broken for a really long time.' Simpson wasn't the only major musical guest to appear on the American Idol finale. The Goo Goo Dolls, Patti LaBelle, Salt-N-Pepa, Josh Groban, and Jennifer Holliday were also among the guest performers. The evening started off with the three finalists, Jamal Brown, John Foster, and Breanna Nix, competing for the crown. Brown, 27, paired up with country star Jelly Roll for a performance of his 2024 songs 'Liar' and 'Unpretty,' while Foster, 18, was joined by judge Luke Bryan for a rendition of 'Deeper Than the Holler.' Nix, 25, sang 'Daddy's DNA' with singer-songwriter Brandon Lake. In the end, Brown was crowned the winner, making him the first Black winner since season two victor Ruben Studdard in 2003. Foster came in second place, followed by Nix in third. For his win, Brown received a recording contract and a significant cash prize, though it's unknown exactly how much he was awarded, as the amount has reportedly changed since the show started. 'I'm still trying to process this… God is so good,' he wrote on Instagram of his victory. 'From my first step on that stage to this unbelievable moment, I never dreamed a kid from my hometown would one day be called American Idol. This journey has been bigger than me, and I'm so grateful for every person who believed in me when I was just chasing a dream.'

Jessica Simpson performed during the American Idol 2025 season finale on May 18, but a lot of fans weren't loving it. In fact, many fans slammed Simpson on social media, saying the musical performance made them "cringe." Simpson performed with Josh King shortly before the winner was announced, appearing in a gold dress. "The Jessica Simpson Josh King American Idol performance might be the most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen! Even the judges are cringing! His harmonica though…" wrote one fan. "Luke's face during that Jessica Simpson performance is the epitome of cringe," wrote another fan, mentioning Judge Luke Bryan. But not everyone hated Simpson's performance. "Jessica Simpson she absolutely killed it!!," wrote a fan on X. "Jessica Simpson crushed it," a fan wrote. Simpson sang the iconic song, These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. She also performed a song from her EP Nashville Canyon, called Blame Me. Ryan Seacrest told the audience it was Simpson's first performance on the show in 15 years. However, a lot of people panned the performance. "American Idol is just pulling the most random people for this finale why they heck is Jessica Simpson on here lol," a fan opined. "Ewww! Jessica Simpson USE TO be able to really sing, but she sounds HORRIBLE tonight!" a fan wrote. "Jessica Simpson was painful," another person wrote. Simpson was just one of many musical artists to perform at the finale, in which John Foster, Jamal Roberts, and Breanna Nix competed to be the 2025 winner. Fans weren't very kind after Simpson's performance. "WHO TOLD JESSICA SIMPSON SHE CAN SING AND WHY IS SHE STILL TRYING?" wrote one fan on X, using all caps. "Did not have Jessica Simpson on my #AmericanIdol finale Bingo Card - much less partnered with Josh King. Nor Josh in a cowboy hat. But it absolutely worked," another fan decided.

Murdered British mother seen dancing with lover months before killing
'Feeling of betrayal' Carter's husband, Alan Carter, who is in South Africa, said he was unaware of the relationship until it was publicly announced by French authorities and has described 'a feeling of complete betrayal'. Police are pursuing the theory that the killer may have harboured a grudge against either the couple or Karen Carter individually. The Daily Telegraph has found footage of Carter and Guerrier dancing with each other at a party hosted outside the Cafe Village, an eatery and community hub in Tremolat where they regularly volunteered. In a video posted on December 13, 2024, on to the Cafe Village Facebook page, Carter, wearing a black top and cream trousers can be seen singing along to Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive with Guerrier, wearing a green jumper and dark trousers, next to a dozen or so locals. The video suggests their relationship may have been publicly known among locals despite Carter's husband being unaware. In a video from a separate party hosted at the Cafe Village in October 2022, Carter can be seen swaying to music behind the bar with Guerrier. Carter is seen holding a glass of white wine next to Guerrier as they dance and sing along to Nancy Sinatra's 1966 classic These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. Carter was of dual South African and British nationality. Alan Carter told The Times: 'What has come out of this investigation has confirmed a relationship I did not want to believe and that had been denied to me repeatedly by my wife.' Alan Carter, who has three children with Karen Carter, said he had recently challenged her about the amount of time she was spending with Guerrier, who had hosted both of them several times at his farmhouse on the edge of the village. 'I told her that the gossip was tarnishing her reputation but she batted it away and said there was nothing in it,' he told the newspaper. The Telegraph understands that Alan Carter will be arriving in Tremolat with Karen's four children on Tuesday. Having found Carter as she lay dying from stab wounds, Guerrier attempted CPR and alerted emergency services. He was questioned by police and quickly released without charge. There is no suggestion he was responsible for her death. He has declined to comment on the case. A 69-year-old woman, who lives near Carter's farmhouse, was arrested by police but released two days later when investigators examined her schedule. Neighbours and close friends have maintained the suspected murder was a 'crime of passion' and not the work of a random killer drifting through the village of 600 people. The Telegraph was told that Carter's family knew nothing of her death until they came across online messages of condolences written by local friends on the Facebook page of Cafe Village Tremolat. A distressed cousin had rung a British expatriate in Tremolat, who had helped run the gite for 13 years, the day after the murder, to find out what had occurred on that fateful evening. The gardener and property manager shared how he had to break the news of the death to Carter's family as they had not been informed by French police. 'I just said 'I am very sorry, I don't know if you have heard but it's Karen who unfortunately passed away',' he explained to journalists from the driveway of his farmhouse. 'Then they asked me if I knew what happened, and I said I didn't know anything about it.'
