'Manjummel Boys' director Chidambaram's next 'Balan' goes on floors
Thiruvananthapuram, The next film of director Chidambaram , best known for his blockbuster Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys,' has been titled ' Balan .' The film went on floors with a traditional pooja in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Sources close to the unit told IANS that the first phase of filming, which began on Sunday, was scheduled to go on for the next five days. The film, which is being produced by KVN Productions, led by Venkat K Narayana, in collaboration with Thespian Films, headed by Shailaja Desai Fenn, has triggered huge interest as it will see two powerhouses of Malayalam cinema—director Chidambaram of Manjummel Boys fame and writer Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham—coming together. KVN Productions forays into Malayalam cinema with Balan. The production house has an impressive list of films that it is producing, including KD (Kannada), Toxic with Yash, Thalapathy 69 (Tamil), and Priyadarshan's Thriller (Hindi). Thespian Films, one of the two production houses producing the film, took to its Instagram page to make the announcement of the film having gone on floors. It wrote, "Lights, camera... BALAN! Costumes for the film are being designed by Sapna Kajha Rawther, and makeupwill be by Ronex Xavier. Audiography for the film will be by Shijin Melvin Hutton and Abhishek Nair, and Ganapathi will be doubling up as both the film's casting director and executive producer. Manjummel Boys and Aavesham directors' next wraps up pre-production, here's when it will go on floors
One of the most anticipated upcoming projects from Malayalam has Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram joining hands with another hit director Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame. In the latest update, the pre-production work of the untitled movie has been completed, and filming will start next month. Here's everything we know about the exciting project. The film, which will have mostly fresh faces, will start rolling in August 2025, online reports have said. More details of the cast are not known. The film, backed by KVN Productions along with Thespian Films, was announced earlier this year. The yet-to-be-titled film marks the first venture of KVN Productions in Malayalam. The production house is also backing Kannada actor Yash's Toxic and Tamil actor Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan, reported to be his last before venturing into politics. In the technical crew, most of the Manjummel Boys' team returns with Shyju Khalid as the cinematographer and Sushin Shyam as the music composer. Notably, Sushin had composed songs for both Aavesham and Manjummel Boys. The songs from Aavesham, starring Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, became popular with the Illuminati track emerging as a chart-topper. Among their upcoming projects, Chidambaram will reportedly mark his Hindi debut with a movie, backed by Phantom Films. Jithu Madhavan also has a film with Mohanlal in the pipeline. He had previously scripted the film Painkili, starring Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu, but it failed to impress the audience.

Suriya's upcoming film with Jithu Madhavan is under discussion
Making his last appearance in Karthik Subbaraj's Retro, Suriya is now busy filming for his 46th project with Venky Atluri in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, there is an interesting update about his next venture. Helmer of Fahadh Faasil starrer Aavesham, Jithu Madhavan, is in discussion to direct Suriya's 47th project. Though in the early stages, the director confirms that talks are indeed going on, and he cannot divulge further details at this point. Following his successful debut with the 2023 horror-comedy Romancham, which had Soubin Shahir starring, Jithu struck gold with his sophomore Aavesham too. This film follows the consequences faced by three college friends after befriending a gangster to get even with their bullies. Aavesham became a box-office hit in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu, making over Rs 150 crore. We had earlier reported that the makers of Suriya 46, starring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, are planning a quick shoot for about three months. The actor is also filming for his 45th film with filmmaker-actor RJ Balaji. Jithu's supposed next was with Mohanlal, but he confirmed the film has been dropped and that he is currently scripting a new film to be directed by Manjummel Boys fame Chidambaram. It is backed by Jana Nayagan producers KVN Productions in association with Thespian Films.
