Footballers selling houses in Cheshire's 'Golden Triangle' slash prices
Football stars in Cheshire's 'Golden Triangle', the affluent towns of Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Prestbury, are having to slash the cost of their houses to secure sales Football stars trying to flog their mansions have seen a Premier League price drop as they knock hundreds of thousands off the asking price. The stars in Cheshire's 'Golden Triangle', the affluent towns of Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Prestbury, and surrounding areas are having to slash the cost to secure sales. Current and former stars from top clubs including Man United, City, Everton and Liverpool, have been struggling to sell their homes. England and Man City ace Phil Foden is the latest ace to knock hundreds of thousands off the price of his home in Prestbury. Among the other players and ex-players to reduce asking prices are former City captain Vincent Kompany, ex-Everton captain Tim Cahill and former England international Joleon Lescott. It comes after Alexander Isak's 'juicy' Man Utd offer and Pep Guardiola intervention to seal £51m deal. Other footballers including Thiago Alcantara and Alejandro Garnacho have seen their houses languishing on the market for months with no buyers in sight. England star Foden has just knocked £300,000 off the asking price of his home with a new price of £2.95m. His former team mate Kompany has also shaved off £300,000 with a new price of £3.65m for his home in Hale Barns. And former City star Lescott was forced to chop £250,000 off his home in Alderley Edge after originally putting it on the market for £4.5m. Cahill has lopped off a massive £1.5m from his mansion in Hale after originally trying to sell it for £6.5m. The 'Golden Triangle' has been a hotbed of housing activity in the top end of the market fuelled by Premier League footballers in the area for years. One local estate agent and mortgage broker said: 'What you have to remember is there's a very small pool of people who can afford properties like these. The super rich or other footballers. These are top end, high-spec properties. 'A lot of players have turned to renting property. They might only be at a club for a couple of seasons, so it makes more sense for them to rent rather than make a substantial investment. 'The prices associated with properties in areas like this mean they are only achievable to very wealthy business people or fellow players. The area is known for attracting wealthy residents. There's no evidence of widespread price drops, but prices can be flexible if someone is pushing for a sale.' Other stars who have struggled to sell their homes in the area include former Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara whose £5.95m Knutsford home has been languishing on the market since December. United winger Garnacho's Altrincham home has been sitting on the market since he put it up for sale in March for £3.85m.

Milos Kerkez's shirt number at Liverpool as new signing has 7 options
Liverpool has confirmed the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, but it's not yet clear what number he'll wear at Anfield. Kerkez has joined the Reds in a deal worth around $54 million, becoming the club's fourth signing of the summer after Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci, and Florian Wirtz. None of Liverpool's four summer signings have received a jersey number yet. Advertisement Kerkez has signed a five-year contract on Merseyside after appearing in all of Bournemouth's 38 Premier League games last season. He's the third senior left-back on Arne Slot's roster, although one of Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas is expected to leave Anfield this summer, with Atletico Madrid chasing Robertson's signature. READ MORE: Milos Kerkez handed clear Liverpool transfer warning - 'Don't bother coming' READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Viktor Gyokeres stance, Milos Kerkez medical, Marc Guehi latest As it stands, there are seven main shirt numbers Kerkez can grasp on Merseyside. The obvious jersey is the No. 6, which has been vacant since Thiago Alcantara retired a year ago. The No. 12, Joe Gomez's former jersey before switching to No. 2, is another choice. Advertisement Other options inside the top 20 are the No. 13, No. 15, and No. 16. The No. 23, made famous on Anfield by Jamie Carragher, is arguably the most iconic number available to Kerkez. And if Kerkez wants to be really bold, he could take Trent Alexander-Arnold's vacant No. 66 jersey following his move to Real Madrid. That would certainly ruffle up some feathers. He sported the No. 5 at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, but that belongs to Ibrahima Konate at Liverpool. Liverpool's decision to delay giving Kerkez a squad number, just as it's done with its other summer signings, is a smart move. Who knows what numbers will be available this time next month? Players are expected to leave Slot's roster over the coming weeks. Advertisement "I'm really happy," said Kerkez on joining the Reds. "It's a real honor for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, (the) biggest club in England. I'm just really, really happy and excited. "After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season." Kerkez added: "I just want to thank everyone for really showing me big love, even before it will be announced now. And keep supporting the team like you support always, because you're the biggest fan base in the world. "I'm going to give everything – absolutely everything – to win trophies with the club and to hopefully score some goals at Anfield. I can't wait to hear the roar. And see you soon." Advertisement Kerkez confirmed Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes, who signed him for Bournemouth, played a big role in bringing him to Anfield. "As everyone knows, (Hughes) brought me to Bournemouth and was (a) big part why I came to Bournemouth," said Kerkez. "Obviously, also (important) is the gaffer – I also had talks with him. I really knew when I talked to him and Richard that this is it for me, so that was my decision. "We talked about the tactics and the plan and where he sees where I can improve and where I can help the team. Obviously, when (the) coach comes also and talks to you, it's a big thing, it's a big sign of respect. For me, there were no second doubts then that I want to go somewhere else. It was always Liverpool.'

'Money, excitement, prestige' - is Wirtz 'biggest signing in Liverpool's history'?
Securing Florian Wirtz on the back of winning the Premier League? It doesn't get any is probably the biggest signing in Liverpool's history. The money, the excitement, the prestige.I was incredibly excited for the Thiago Alcantara signing, right after he was man of the match in the Champions League final for Bayern Munich. But in truth, he was past his best due to injuries and there was a reason the Germans were allowing him an exit. What a beautiful footballer to watch, Torres was a big name when we bought him, but not as recognised as Wirtz on the big stage. Torres made a name for himself at Liverpool, while Wirtz is already a two-time Bundesliga Player of the recent greats like Luis Suarez, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane were highly rated before their arrivals, but not superstars - and were purchased at normal £100m, potentially reaching £116m, the Wirtz deal is mega-money. It is the kind of money I never thought Liverpool would spend under FSG's tenure, if I'm honest. But it shows that when the right player is available, they will press the button. They broke records at the time when they signed Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, remember. And if Wirtz has half the impact those two have had, it will be money will spent, too. Liverpool's spine now looks jaw-dropping. Alisson in net, Virg and Ibou Konate at centre-back. Young Player of the Year Ryan Gravenberch with World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister in midfield, and Wirtz in the number 10 question now is with Darwin Nunez's future at the club uncertain, will the Reds go big again on a centre-forward? I think they just do you think Wirtz is the biggest signing in Liverpool's history? And what does it say about the club's current pulling power?Get in touch here with your thoughts Find more from Jordan Chamberlain at Empire of the Kop, external
