Former Nebraska defensive tackle signs contract with Philadelphia Eagles
Former Nebraska defensive tackle signs contract with Philadelphia Eagles A former Nebraska defensive lineman has signed a contract with an NFL team. Defensive tackle Ty Robinson has a four-year, $5.1 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, which includes a $1 million signing bonus. Eagles drafted Ty Robinson with the ninth pick in the fourth round. The defensive tackle had an impressive 2024 for the Cornhuskers. In 13 games, he recorded 37 tackles, 13.0 for loss, and 7.0 sacks. His performance was good enough to earn Third-Team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media. He has tallied 130 tackles and 11 sacks in five seasons with the Huskers. Robinson also turned heads at the NFL combine, running a 4.8 340-yard dash and jumping 33.5 inches. Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on drafting Josh Simmons: 'He can play any spot'
Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on drafting Josh Simmons: 'He can play any spot' During his press conference late Thursday night, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons' selection in the first round. "What you heard from the guys announcing (TV commentators) this was true," Reid said. "I mean, he would have been a top five or ten pick, and so it's a position that we can use an addition of good players, and in particular at the left tackle spot, if and when he can jump in there and do that." Simmons was named Third-Team All-Big Ten last season for the National Champions, and he suffered a torn patellar tendon in October that hurt his draft stock as the potential top lineman in the class. "So he's flexible, and he can play any spot. But we felt like he was a true left tackle," said Reid. "We'll see where it goes. I mean, I tell you, Andy (Heck) plays those guys all over the place, so we'll try to find the five best and get him in there going. I feel like he can go in there, the kid that we picked up in the free agency (Jaylon Moore), he can play right or left too, so we've got some flexibility." Reid sounds optimistic about trying multiple combinations on the offensive line during training camp. Simmons' health will be a crucial factor in determining his role, as the free agency signing of Jaylon Moore has put Kansas City in a position not to rush their new rookie left tackle.

Kansas City Chiefs select Ohio State OL Josh Simmons at pick No. 32 in the 2025 NFL draft
Kansas City Chiefs select Ohio State OL Josh Simmons at pick No. 32 in the 2025 NFL draft Following a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Ohio State offensive lineman Josh Simmons with the 32nd pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Chiefs have made it no secret that they were in search of another top-tier tackle on the offensive line, with the desire to add more starter potential after signing Jaylon Moore at the start of free agency. Simmons is unofficially listed at 6 feet 5 inches tall and 310 pounds and has the skills to play left tackle in the league. Simmons was named Third-Team All-Big Ten last season for the National Champions, and he suffered a torn patellar tendon in October that slowed his progress, affecting his draft stock as the potential top lineman in the class. His elite blocking ability, as measured by many experts around the league, should prove helpful for a unit that struggled at times during the season and in Super Bowl LIX. The Huskers did not see anyone chosen in the 2024 draft snapping a streak of four straight years with at least two players selected in the draft. The 2025 NFL draft will take place April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. The Tennessee Titans finished with the worst record in the 2024 season and will make the first overall pick in the draft. Two 40s.
