Inverness woman allegedly murdered by her son named by police
A woman who was allegedly murdered by her son in a disturbance in Inverness has been named by MacDonald, 52, was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a house in Craigton Avenue at about 19:30 on Sunday. She died on said a 55-year-old man who was also injured in the incident remained in Fraser, 30, was charged with using two knives to repeatedly stab his mother and the man when he appeared in court on Tuesday. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Inverness man accused of murdering mother and attempting to kill father
A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his mother and attempting to murder his father in a knife attack in Inverness. Emergency crews were called to the city's Craigton Avenue at about 7.30pm on Sunday following reports of two injured people at a house. A 55-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The woman died on Monday. Thomas Fraser, 30, was arrested and charged by Police Scotland in connection with the incident. Fraser appeared before Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday, where he was accused of murder as well as assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder. Fraser, of Inverness, made no plea to the two charges and was remanded in custody. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

His arrest follows an alleged incident in the Merkinch area of the city on Sunday. Police Scotland said they were called to a property in Craigton Avenue around 7.30pm following reports of two people having been injured. Fraser's 55-year-old father, Ian, and his mother, Miriam Macdonald, aged 51, were taken to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries and where Mrs Macdonald died. It is understood that her husband is in intensive care but his condition has not been officially disclosed. The first charge alleges that on June 1 Fraser repeatedly stabbed his father on the body with two knives to his serious injury, danger of life and he attempted to murder him. The second charge alleges that on June 2, 2025, he murdered his mother by repeatedly stabbing her to the head, neck, and body with two knives. Photographs taken at the scene of the alleged incident showed forensics and specialist officers attending a property at Craigton Avenue on Sunday. Police Scotland locked down the residential street using blue tape with several vehicles parked up to block the road. Cops reassured locals that the alleged attack was a contained incident. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder of a man and a woman in Inverness. "Around 7.30pm on Sunday, 1 June, 2025, we were called to Craigton Avenue in the city after reports of two injured people in the property. "The injured man and woman were taken to Raigmore Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. "This was a contained incident and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection."
