Police scrambled to the scene at around 10.30pm after the alarm was raised over reports of a knife assault. The boy was found bleeding on the pavement by shocked neighbours who rushed to his rescue while they waiting for emergency services. The boy was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. Police have now confirmed that a teenager, also 15, has been charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court sometime today. A statement from the force read: "A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Glasgow. "Around 10.30pm on Thursday, 29 May, officers received a report of another 15-year-old male having been found seriously injured in the Denbeck Street area of Glasgow. "Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, with what were described as serious injuries. He has since been discharged. "The boy is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 5 June, 2025." Police probing death of 'stabbed' teen Kayden Moy swoop on Scots park Scores of emergency services descended on the street after the horror unfolded. There were visible splatters of blood on the pavement the following morning, while CID officers were seen speaking to teenagers near the crime scene. A mum-of-four, 31, who tried to keep the lad from losing consciousness, told the Scottish Sun she was talking to him to keep him awake. She said: "I just told him that his mum would come. The police said he was in a bad state. 'It's just crazy what's happening on our streets. I'm worried about my own kids' safety.' Shettleston councillor Thomas Kerr said the incident was 'heartbreaking and shocking' as fears rise over Scotland's escalating knife crime wave. He said: 'There is a knife crime epidemic in Scotland. 'Parents should not be scared for their sons or daughters to leave the house. Something needs to change. 'My thoughts are with the young man's family, and I hope he makes a speedy recovery.' A local mum-of-four, aged 38, warned that 'weans aren't safe to go anywhere'. She added: 'It seems to be getting worse.' A gran-of-two, 65, who lives near the scene, said: 'I think it's shocking that there are so many stabbings across Glasgow. 'It seems to be getting out of hand. My granddaughter is around the same age and I'm worried for her safety.' The latest violence shock comes days after we told how John Swinney was warned his 'weak and reckless' justice system is costing lives amid alarm at a deadly knife crime wave. Scottish Tories leader Russell Findlay accused the First Minister of 'fuelling youth violence' amid a 'sickening' 600 per cent rise in serious assaults committed by teens in five years. The Holyrood showdown came after day tripper Kayden Moy, 16, was allegedly stabbed to death at Irvine beach in Ayrshire on May 17. In a separate incident another teen was allegedly stabbed at Portobello Beach in Edinburgh the day before. Meanwhile, Scotland's top cop called for a crackdown on violence in schools after we revealed a boy of seven allegedly took a blade into Heathfield Primary in Ayr to attack another pupil. We also told earlier this week how a 10-year-old lad was threatened with a blade by a tearaway classmate in Kilmarnock. A boy of the same age was reported to authorities over the incident. Earlier this month, a 14-year-old thug was locked up for five years for killing Kory McCrimmon, 16, in Glasgow in a fight over £50. And a group of teenagers are currently facing charges in connection with the death of 15-year-old Glasgow teen Amen Teklay. 5 Amen Teklay was allegedly stabbed to death in Glasgow 5 Kayden Moy was allegedly stabbed at Irvine Beach before he died

Dumfries and Galloway salmon 'maternity hospital' gets power up from SP Energy Networks

Volunteers from the firm met Nith District Salmon Fisheries Board to plant 1,000 trees at Crawick Water. Dumfries and Galloway's number one salmon 'maternity hospital' has been given a power up. Ahead of World Environment Day volunteers from SP Energy Networks met Nith District Salmon Fisheries Board at Crawick Water to plant 1,000 trees. ‌ The project aims to protect the salmon spawning ground from river bank erosion and habitat loss. ‌ Crawick Water runs from the Lowther Hills to join the River Nith at Crawick near Sanquhar, playing a crucial role in salmon breeding, as well as supporting diverse wildlife and rare plants. Trees including alder, cherry and Scots pine were planted by the volunteers, who came from all departments of SP Energy Networks, and their work is expected to enhance the habitats surrounding the river, providing increased shading and cooler water. Nith District Salmon Fisheries Board director, Jim Henderson, said: 'We are are very grateful for the assistance given by SP Energy Networks on their latest riparian woodland habitat scheme on the Crawick Water at Sanquhar. ' The financial contribution from SP Energy Networks made the project possible. However, our trust were unaware that they employed such talented tree planters within their ranks. We could hardly keep up with the team on the volunteering day. 'The Crawick day was good humoured with all contributing to a worthwhile cause. Nith fisheries staff work on all SP Energy Networks' projects within the Nith catchment and enjoy a good working relationship with a joint goal of protecting the River Nith and its environment.' The newly planted trees will also help filter pollutants and sediments from runoff, improving water quality. It is hoped the planting will also help stabilise riverbanks, reduce erosion and act as natural flood mitigation through bank reinforcement and water absorption. Sustainability specialist at SP Energy Networks, Tayler Henderson, said: 'The tree planting day at Crawick Water was a fantastic opportunity for our team to contribute to vital local environmental restoration efforts. By planting these trees, we're helping to enhance biodiversity, improve water quality, and support salmon populations in the area. 'This initiative is just one example of SP Energy Networks' commitment to delivering biodiversity and creating a better future for our communities. We look forward to hosting more volunteer days like this to continue our work in protecting and enriching our natural environment.'
