Today's ‘Wordle' #1426 Hints, Clues And Answer For Thursday, May 15th
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Wednesday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Since it's Thor's Day and yesterday was Odin's Day, I owe all you dear Wordlers a solution to the Wordle Wednesday riddle I handed out yesterday. This was a bit of a lateral thinking puzzle: A husband and wife are driving down a road one night when the car runs out of gas. The man leaves his wife in the car and hurries to a gas station down the road. He leaves the doors locked. When he returns, the doors are still locked but his wife is dead and there's a stranger in the car. What happened? The answer: The woman was pregnant. When the man went for help, she died giving birth and the man returned to find her dead and their child—the stranger—in the car. Grim, I know. At least I didn't post it on Mother's Day! Let's solve this Wordle. The Hint: Excited. The Clue: This Wordle has a more vowels than consonants. Okay, spoilers below! . . . Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. I started out quite terribly today with FLITE, leaving me with a whopping 412 remaining solutions and one lonely yellow box. SHEAR cut that down to 26 and gave me another yellow and one green box. I figured I really needed to get the 'E' into green and picked EAGER, which had two possible locations for the vowel. I was actually a bit shocked when it ended up being the Wordle! Huzzah! Today's Wordle Bot I made up for my big losses today, at least in part, getting 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. This adjusts our May tally to: Erik: 15 points Wordle Bot: 7 points The word eager comes from Middle English eagre, meaning "keen" or "fierce," which was borrowed from Old French eigre. That, in turn, comes from Latin acer, meaning "sharp, keen, or spirited." So originally, eager conveyed intensity or sharpness of desire. Today's ‘Wordle' #1412 Hints, Clues And Answer For Thursday, May 1st
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Wednesday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Not only is it Thor's Day, it's also May Day. April is dead. May has risen from its ashes. Also, yesterday was Wordle Wednesday and I gave all you fine Wordlers an extra brain-teaser to solve. Not that many of you sent me the answer, so kudos to those of you got this. Here's the puzzle: There are three boxes. One box contains gems. At least one box has a true statement and at least one box has a false statement. The three boxes are black, white and blue. The black box has a note on it that reads "the white box contains gems". The white box has a note on it that reads "only one box contains gems". And the blue box has a note on it that reads "only one box is true". In which box are the gems? The answer: The White Box. I got this puzzle from the new video game Blue Prince which is one of my favorite games of the year. It's such a delightful and challenging puzzle game. You play as the heir to a large estate who is tasked with finding the mysterious 46th room. Each day, you go into the manor and 'draft' new rooms, each with its own doors, treasures and lore, and try to map out an ever-shifting manor-house, all while finding special items and solving puzzles. Each day, you start over with a fresh slate, though there are some permanent unlocks you can find as well. It's genuinely wonderful and captivating, perhaps the best puzzle game I've played since Myst. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder In any case, let's solve this Wordle! The Hint: Someone with a special set of skills. The Clue: This Wordle starts with a vowel. Okay, spoilers below! . . . Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CLOUT was a reasonably decent opening guess, leaving me with just 101 words and one green 'T'. I opted for all new letters with SPARE and got three yellow boxes for my troubles. At this point I could only think of one word, though it turns out EXPAT would have also worked. Thankfully, I only thought of ADEPT and that was the Wordle! Today's Wordle Bot I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying the Bot. Same score for the Bot. We begin our May contest with a tie (which is funny, because we ended April in a tie!) Erik: 1 point Wordle Bot: 1 point The word "adept" comes from Latin adeptus, the past participle of adipisci, meaning "to attain" or "to achieve." It originally referred to someone who had attained knowledge or mastery, especially in alchemy or esoteric arts, before broadening in meaning. I opted for all new letters with CHAIN, and that only slashed it down to three. I had to gamble. I chose the most interesting of the words I could think of: GENIE. Lucky for me, my wishes were answered. Today's Bot Both the Bot and I get 1 point today, since we tied and got the Wordle in three. Our new April scores are: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 15 points The word genie comes from the French génie, which was borrowed from Latin genius, meaning a guardian spirit or guiding influence. The Arabic word jinn (or djinn) influenced the modern meaning of genie—a supernatural creature from Middle Eastern folklore. Today's NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Thursday, April 17th
Looking for help with today's NYT Mini Crossword puzzle? Here are some hints and answers for the ... More puzzle. In case you missed Wednesday's NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here: Thor's Day is upon us, so I expect a little rain and thunder. What's the use of a day named after a god of storms if we don't get fun and exciting weather? Imagine a reality where each day conformed to its namesake. Sundays were always sunny. Mondays the sun didn't come out at all, and the moon was always full. I'm not sure we can quite pigeon hole the rest of the days as easily. Tuesday is named for Tyr, a god of war, so I suppose violent crime rates would go up. Freya is a fertility goddess, but I think Fridays are already carved out for lovers. I digress. More importantly than my endless musings about the days is this Mini Crossword we have to solve. Let's solve it! The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it's free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you'll need the app to tackle the archive. Spoilers ahead! FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder 1- Person, ___ or thing — PLACE 6- Like someone you shouldn't trust with fragile objects — KLUTZY 7- A time to dye? — EASTER 8- Dangle a carrot in front of — ENTICE 9- Class for a cognitive science major, for short — PSYCH 1- Activities on the docket — PLANS 2- Full of sexual desire — LUSTY 3- Commonly cobwebby room — ATTIC 4- From Prague, say — CZECH 5- Jane in classic literature — EYRE 6- Not get rid of — KEEP Today's Mini This was a fun, somewhat tricky, Mini. 6-Across really threw me off. I went with CLUMSY, which fit for awhile until I needed 3-Down to be ATTIC. Then I went with CLUTZY because I forgot how to spell the word. The Easter references were nice. This one took me 1:34. How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
