HelloFresh launches Father's Day menu with beer pairings
HelloFresh has released a new Father's Day menu off the back of research that shows that 57% of people find their dads tricky to buy for - and 46% of dads say they've received gifts they didn't want or use. Each dish on the menu has been paired with craft beers, from Thornbridge. HelloFresh and Thornbridge are giving a few of those who order the new Father's Day menu the chance to win a crate of Thornbridge beers to enjoy with their meals. Any other HelloFresh customers looking to purchase Thornbridge can use the code 'HF20' for 20% discount off the paired range until June 30. Birra Moretti is also celebrating Father's Day by offering a pairing to the HelloFresh Chorizo and Tomato Spaghetti with their Sale di Mare lager. A selection of customers who order this dish will receive a complimentary beer in-box. Mimi Morley, Senior Recipe Development Manager at HelloFresh, said: 'We know that Father's Day can be tricky, but our new Father's Day menu gives our customers the means to create a delicious celebratory meal with minimal fuss or waste. We also understand most dads just want the opportunity to spend time with their family and what better way to do so than over a delicious, home-cooked meal.' James Buchanan, General Manager for Thornbridge Brewery said: 'While wine is more commonly paired with food, craft beer can make a delicious accompaniment to any meal. The pine and citrus notes of our West Side Glory IPA, for example, balances the richness of HelloFresh's decadent mac and cheese and helps to refresh the palate between bites. We've worked closely with HelloFresh on its Father's Day menu and hope to inspire people to opt for craft beer over wine when celebrating Father's Day this year and beyond.'

The best beers to buy at Lidl, tried and tasted
It's 30 years since German supermarket Lidl first opened its doors in the UK. In that time it has gained a reputation for offering some cracking, keenly priced food items and superstar wines, but what of the beer aisle? I put Lidl's beer range through a rigorous taste test to mine for quality bargains. This included a selection of Lidl's own-label products as well as some of the well-known brands it offers. The range leans heavily towards lager, as you might expect with research suggesting that over 70 per cent of Brits prefer it to ale. However, it does have a compact but well chosen offering for ale lovers, too. And keep an eye out in the fabled Middle of Lidl for occasional specials; I've seen four-packs of Thornbridge's legendary Jaipur IPA in there at a bargain-basement price and the large 'selection pack' of German beers that is usually released around Oktoberfest is always hotly anticipated. Examining the range as a whole, I quickly noticed that almost every bottle is labelled 'premium'. To paraphrase The Incredibles, if everything is super then nothing is – the descriptor loses all meaning. I therefore tasted the range blind, to prevent undue influence from the packaging or my own personal bias. My final list features those I consider the very best available – as well as a couple that miss the mark and are best avoided. After the big reveal, my verdict is that Lidl offers a number of extremely successful big-name duplicates that offer a lot of flavour at a very competitive price. So if you're accustomed to sticking to your usual brand of beer, perhaps it's time for a taste test of your own. Sheffield Fargate Yorkshire Bank site to open as pub in autumn
A pub in a former city centre bank is set to open in autumn, its owners have former Yorkshire Bank building on Fargate in Sheffield will host up to 250 revellers following a £1m interior pub, named The Fargate, is part of the regeneration of the street which saw three years of construction come to a close in early & Co's Simon Webster said: "This project has been over two years in the making, and we're thrilled to be nearing the finish line." The firm is a joint venture of Peak District-based Thornbridge Brewery and York-based Pivovar, which runs three pubs across the Ben Miskell, chair of regeneration at Sheffield City Council, said he looked forward to another business on Fargate was up 14% between 3 March and 6 April this year compared to the same time in 2024, the council said."We can't wait to welcome the people of Sheffield and become a part of this dynamic and evolving city centre," Mr Webster added.
