Kate Winslet Covered Daughter Mia's Eyes During Titanic Sex Scene

's daughter, Mia Threapleton, has made a surprising confession: she has never watched Titanic in its entirety. The 24-year-old actress, who is following in her Oscar-winning mother's footsteps, revealed the secret reason why she couldn't finish the epic romance that catapulted Winslet to stardom. In a recent candid interview with Defined, Kate Winslet's daughter Mia Threapleton revealed that she has never watched Titanic from start to finish. Threapleton shared that her mother covered her 'eyes' during the car's intimate scene between Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Threapleton recalled, 'I remember the car scene happening and these hands appeared from behind my head and covered up my eyes.' She joked, 'I was like, 'I can still hear everything.'' The actress shared that Winslet 'does not like watching herself.' 'I don't remember why it was on. My mother would never optionally put that film on. She does not like watching herself. And I totally understand why,' Threapleton gushed. While following Winslet's legacy, Mia Threapleton has already acted alongside her mother in multiple projects. She starred alongside her mother in the powerful Channel 4 drama I Am Ruth, part of Dominic Savage's I Am series. The mother-daughter duo portrayed a struggling single parent and her withdrawn teenage daughter. Threapleton revealed the process was 'intense,' and she did not really discuss the work with her celebrity mother. She noted, 'The whole process itself was very intense, but we didn't actually ever speak about what we were doing.' After the success of I Am Ruth, which won the Best Single Drama BAFTA award, Threapleton went on to act in Wes Anderson's film, The Phoenician Scheme. Threapleton's co-stars include Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, and more. Reflecting on the experience, Threapleton said, 'It was mind-blowing.' Acting alongside an acclaimed star cast felt like a 'dream,' she added. 'I feel so unbelievably lucky to have had the opportunity that I have to have done this job with Wes.' The Phoenician Scheme premiered at the 2025 Cannes on May 18, 2025. The film got its theatrical release in the United States on May 30. Kate Winslet's Daughter Is Her Mom's Twin in Over $400,000 Worth of Jewelry on the Red Carpet

Mia Threapleton is the fashion-forward daughter of fellow actress Kate Winslet. At the May 28 New York City premiere of The Phoenician Scheme, Threapleton wore emerald green Elie Saab alongside co-star Scarlett Johansson. She paired the gown with over $400,000 worth of diamonds, including a $334,000 Threapleton wore over $400,000 worth of diamonds at the New York City premiere of The Phoenician Scheme, wearing an emerald green, strapless Elie Saab gown alongside co-star Scarlett Johansson. Threapleton—who is the daughter of Academy Award winner Kate Winslet—has established an impressive acting resume of her own, and a solid fashion portfolio, as well. Threapleton paired her Elie Saab dress—train included!—with a suite of pieces from Maison Boucheron's Quatre Radiant Edition, which the jewelers confirmed in a statement to Hello!. 'Mia Threapleton chose to wear creations from Maison Boucheron,' the statement said, and the ensemble included the Quatre Radiant Edition necklace in white gold, paved with diamonds and valued at $334,000. She also wore a matching ring valued at $61,000 and two diamond-paved ear clips priced at $2,643 each—bringing her total jewelry valuation to just over $401,000. Threapleton's May 28 appearance follows the actress appearing in custom Oscar de la Renta and Chopard at Cannes; before that, she wore archived Fendi (from the 1980s, specifically)—'choices that signal a rising star with serious taste,' according to Hello!, which tackled comparisons to her mother Winslet head-on in saying, 'Kate Winslet is British cinema royalty, but Mia is the Gen Z queen-in-waiting.' Winslet and Threapleton worked together on the 2022 project I Am Ruth, where Winslet said on BBC One's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg that she was 'blown away' by her daughter's performance. 'I mean, she didn't need my help at all,' Winslet said (via People). 'Sometimes I could introduce her to a technical trick here and there. Just little things I picked up along the way, like changing an eye line…Little things like that, that no one teaches you. And she appreciated that stuff.' 'We had the added bonus of knowing how to push each other's buttons, which I can tell you we can do quite well and definitely lent on that resource considerably when we were filming,' Winslet continued. 'As far as performance, she didn't need me at all. There are even moments where she'd look at me and go, 'Shut up Mum, let me do it!'' Of her daughter following her footsteps into acting someday, 'I think I knew [it] was coming,' Winslet said. 'I always suspected. And then a few years ago she turned around and said, 'I'd like to give it a go.'' 'What's great for her is she has a different surname, so she slipped under the radar and the people who cast her didn't know she was my daughter, and that was important for her self-esteem, of course,' Winslet added. The Phoenician Scheme cast reveal wildly elaborate filming detail behind iconic Wes Anderson movies

Don't miss out on the headlines from Movies. Followed categories will be added to My News. The all-star cast of Wes Anderson's latest blockbuster has lifted the lid on the unique tool behind the filmmaker's quirkiest scenes, describing it as a gamechanger. Anderson's latest outing, The Phoenician Scheme, had its global premiere at Cannes Film Festival last week, which saw its lead actors Benicio Del Toro, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Richard Ayoade and Mia Threapleton hit the red carpet. The film features del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, a wealthy and controversial businessman who – while facing his own mortality – names his estranged daughter, Leisl (Threapleton), as sole heir to his empire, and enlists her help in pulling off one final, ambitious project: The Phoenician Scheme. Del Toro, Threapleton and Cera in The Phoenician Scheme. Picture: Universal As they attempt to nail down the logistics, the unlikely duo is targeted by scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and seemingly endless would-be assassins. Speaking to ahead of the premiere in Cannes, Threapleton, 24, described how Anderson drew upon his previous work in animation to bring this film to life. 'He makes an animated version of the film, it's a series of storyboards, it's amazing,' she explained, adding that it was a 'full-blown feature-length animation' of the entire film 'shot by shot, frame by frame', including the voices of all the characters. 'I've never actually seen anything like that … to be presented with this, it was great. We had a blueprint of what we were doing, we knew what the shots were going to be and we knew the pacing of what we were doing. 'It was so useful and so valuable, just fantastic.' Anderson uses an elaborate tool to bring his scenes to life. Picture: Universal Threapleton's co-star, Richard Ayoade, plays a terrorist in The Phoenician Scheme – which marks his third time working with Anderson, whom he describes as 'the greatest director on Earth'. The impressive title, the British actor and comedian told is borne of the fact that he's a 'complete filmmaker'. 'He produces, he writes, he directs. Every single thing in one of his frames is there by design and adds to the overall narrative. He's one of the best,' Ayoade said. As with basically all of Anderson's films, The Phoenician Scheme attracts some of Hollywood's biggest names into relatively minor roles – Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray and Benedict Cumberbatch, to name just a few. Richard Ayoade is Sergio, the freedom fighter, in the film. Picture: Universal Whoever happened to be working together at the same time got together for dinners 'every night', and created a 'Lunch Club' to catch up on set during the day. 'It was so much fun,' Threapleton, who is the daughter of actress Kate Winslet, gushed. Ahmed added: 'Wes has these dinners every night … and so you do have this collegiate atmosphere, summer camp [vibes]. Summer camp with Tom Hanks.' Cera and del Toro also credited Anderson's trademark A-list cameo rotation with keeping the core cast focused and energised. 'Everybody came in different moments as we were filming their little chapter of the movie. It was like a new movie every week,' Cera told while del Toro agreed: 'It's a shock of energy. It's just exciting and it's always different.' The Phoenician Scheme is in Australian cinemas from tomorrow, May 29. Kate Winslet's daughter says her mom made her write a pros and cons list before signing up for Instagram when she was 14

Kate Winslet's daughter, Mia Threapleton, 24, says she "never had" social media and doesn't want it. The Gen Z actor previously said her mom told her to write a list of pros and cons before joining Instagram. Winslet herself has also been vocal about the harmful impact of social media on children. Mia Threapleton, 24, says her mother, Kate Winslet, influenced her decision not to have social media. In an interview with Elle published on Thursday, the actor spoke about her upbringing and how her famous mother shaped her decision to live a private life. Threapleton told Elle that she doesn't have any social media accounts and doesn't plan on creating them anytime soon. "People say, 'Oh, well done,' to not having it, but I've never had it, so I don't really know what the 'Well done' is for. I don't want it. I don't want to worry about dropping my phone out of a tree if I'm climbing one because I'm trying to take a photo of something," Threapleton said. Part of it comes from the intense public scrutiny her mother faced at the height of her "Titanic" fame. Winslet has spoken multiple times about how she felt bullied and bodyshamed by the media after the movie came out. Threapleton said her mother made a point to instill body confidence from a young age, including times when she was insecure about showing her shoulders while swimming. "My mom said, 'No, this is strong. So many people would love to be able to swim the length of the pool the way you do — think of it as a positive thing,'" Threapleton said, recalling her mother's words. This isn't the first time that Threapleton has spoken about how her mother played a role in her decision not to use social media. In a May 17 interview with The Times, Threapleton said her mother encouraged her to make a list of pros and cons for joining Instagram when she was 14. "The cons completely outweighed the pros for me. That was quite a clarifying moment. Since then, the more time I spend in this world, the more I'm really happy that I don't have it," she said. Winslet herself has also been vocal about the harmful impact of social media on kids. In 2023, during an appearance on BBC Radio 4's "Woman's Hour," the "Little Children" actor spoke about why she believes kids shouldn't have social media and smartphones. "It's tampering with, sometimes, a very basic level of self-esteem. But on a bigger and darker scale, it's tampering with young people's self-esteem to the extent that they are completely losing a sense of who they are, and don't know how to communicate not just with their friends but their families," Winslet said. Several countries around the world are trying to implement stricter controls on social media use for kids. In November, Australia's government approved a law banning social media for children under 16. Norway also announced last year that it was exploring a sweeping social-media ban for children under 15. Representatives for Threapleton and Winslet did not immediately respond to requests for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours. Read the original article on Business Insider
